Help upgrading my RAM pls

I have another thread where I was asking whether it was better to have 2x4gb or 4x2gb for my mobo... and I got my answer for that... Afterwards, I asked them about 2 ram kits I'm considering to upgrade my current ram kit, and they just couldn't help...

So I'm trying a new thread (because I wanna buy new RAM very soon):

here's what I was asking them:

My main concern being my mobo... Do you think they'll work fine with my current mobo (sabertooth 55i)
My CPU is an i7 875k, and the mobo is a p55 chip... LGA1156 I believe...

I want to know if the "corsair red vengance 8gb (4gbx2) 1600 CL7 will work with my mobo.... Often you have to look *@ the ram's specs to find out what chips it was intended to work with... And no matter where I look I can't find whether it will work with a p55 mobo chipset...

IF you scroll down the page you will see that it supports p55 mobos... which means there shouldn't be a problem with my system...

As for the ones you guys have recommended (the corsair red vengeance 8gb (4gbx2) CAS7 (SPD latency 9 9 9 24 but tested latency 7 8 7 24)... I can't find whether they match my mobo.
Also, they seem to be meant for the 2nd gen CPUs from intel... altho the way they talk about it in the specs... sounds like it's also supposed to work with "all" the previous i3,i5,i7 gens...

If you look @ the specs, there's no mention of the Mobo "chipset compatibility"...

The trend is for lower voltage sticks in general. Your choices should be OK.

If your mobo works with XMP settings then the memory pre programmed profiles will kick in and give you a base line to work off, for manual setup. See specs:

Are you going to OverClock...if then, you may want ram that takes higher voltages. There is a range that they all work in.

I have these: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR...

I have never riun them at 1.65v except with the XMP setting. At rated speed I can run them at 1.61v and if I run them at 1600, they run at 1.55v, if I drop them to 1333 then 1.5v is sufficient.

I have also only been buying GSkill for my last few builds.

I have some Corsair, PNY and Samsung DDR2 and some Mushkin DDR500, Corsair DDR400, Patriot DDR400, Crucial DDR500

The point being that most memory is fine. If you want to push it, you pay more for premium ram and lower latency ram.

Manual settings overcome most issues.

THAT was the answer I was looking for... FINALLY someone who knows what he's talking about! thank god.

So yeah, I've done some searching, and found out that I have this kit:

which is basically the same as this one:

But the big difference being the timings at which they are rated:

7 8 7 24 vs 9 9 9 24 and both are 2N (so I'm guessing the CAS7 should be a bit snappier... and I'm also taking it should be easier to Overclock with the CAS7... I might be able to achieve 2000mhz with them with tighter timings... who knows... I can reach 2000mhz with my 1600mhz kit at these timings 9 11 9 27)

Also, I noticed the CAS9 kit is rated at 1.5v and has the "L" standing for LOW OC potential, very interesting indeed...

whereas the other has the "H" like you mentionned... I will definitly get the CAS7 kit and mess around with it... It's just a pain in the ass right now, because I can't find a place to buy em (most places are Out of stock grrrrr)

Quick questions:

What makes the 2nd kit able to have better CAS than the first... even tho every other spec is the same?

Meaning: What's the physical difference between a 1600mhz 8gb CAS9 kit and a 1600mhz 8gb CAS7 kit?

Is there something they do in order to make them perform more?

And why are some RAM rated @ 1.5v and other @ 1.6v... Is this why the CAS7 is rated "H" for High OC potential? (because it can take more voltage?)
