Help w/ EVGA GTX 580 Broke?

What is wrong with this card? I just purchased this and tried it out on Kombuster to see some frame rates... 1920x1080, NoAA, and running 17fps or lower???? I put in my Asus DCII and immediately the frames skyrocket. I check the EVGA in GPUZ and everything appears fine but this thing will just not perform. BTW this was a brand new install on new computer so the drivers cannot be an issue. Plus if it was drivers then why would my Asus perform so well and this one not.

The card never locks up or freezes, and it's not been oc...it just won't pull it's weight.

I took the card out and put it into my other machine and still I get the same results 17fps or lower. Bios on the card are 70.10.20.00.80 clock 772, mem 1002, shade 1544.

I don't get it. Any insight would be much appreciated.

if you just got it, RMA/return it for a new one, sounds like somethings very wrong to me.

No it isnt broke... thats just the card dropping its core freq. when it detects youre running furmark, kombuster etc. I belive ASUS didn't implement this "feature" on their cards.

run heaven benchmark, if you get the same/similar score its fine as LDNL said, the ASUS doesn't have the thermal throttling for furmark

why are you using Kombuster? If it is an EVGA card try EVGA Percision. There you can tweak things. http://www.evga.com/precision/

that won't make a difference. they are the same program underneath....
just a different skin.

MSI GPU are tools are better and offer more settings than EVGA ones also like said ^ they are the same program.
