then i would first overclock it with msi afterburner and check the limits of clocks +temps of your card and just save a profile to run on win startup. i cannot do or know this-every card is different.
no flashing needed really.
here ya have a reference point and ya see this card gets hot with voltage oc:

ASUS GeForce GTX 470 Fermi Review
NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 470 was announced a few weeks back - now we got the first production sample of the card from ASUS. Compared to the GTX 480 we saw much more reasonable power consumption numbers as well as fan noise and heat.

just try it.
both have a feature to start with an oc profile so its up to your liking but only after ya know whats stable.
just run futuremark or a game ya like- dont do stress tests like kombustor they are only good for a few minutes to test highest temp-my2cents
but if ya need help there are more peeps with msi ab knowledge then asus gpu tweak i think.
