Help with MB,CPU,RAM.

I need some help.
First what MB is this? What CPU is that and what RAM is that?
I want to get it up and running.
Is that CPU any good for gaming?
I this a good MB or is it too old?

I dunno. I just hooked my GTX 1080 up to a Phenom II 1045t 6 core and it's complete butt for gaming. That motherboard does support FX series which are a bit better if you can find one cheap.

I would go for something like a 960T chip for it.... Maybe a quad cored FX or something with a TDP of 95W or less, DO NOT run a hex cored chip if wanting to go with an AM3 chip or one of the 125W TDP AM3+ chips in it or the MOSFETs will become suitable for B-B-Q'ing something over an open flame. MSI boards of that socket have that inherent problem with it's "El-Cheapo" Nikos MOSFETs so run a quad core or at least something that's a 95W TDP chip or less if possible.

Overclocking helps, especially if you can get to 4GHz.

A fan pointed at the VRM heatsink might prevent the mosfets from cooking themselves.

Considering the price of a new computer today? ARE YOU FING KIDDING ME? Hell People will just jump at this thing at 500 bucks with the right CPU! It will cost you 2-3K for a prebuilt box at Fry's! SO I hardly think that ANYONE with a Minimum wage job will such it up! LOL You just stated WHY I want to sink SOME If any Hell I could just put it all together and sell it for 200 bucks EASY! But I think I want to do some thing else.
Just a light file server nothing heavy But it would be nice to add a 4th Quad core to my collection.
I just got done rebuilding my old Q9650 and my old Q8600 and I have that MB with some killer DDR3 RAM!
So this will give me 2 AMD quad cores and 2 Intel Cores.
Would be nice to have and AMD that would be in equal or better than the Q9650 but be nice and cheep.

You'll have to check fleabay, normally you can find one or maybe someone here has a spare since folks that have them tend to hang onto them. These chips are kinda popular among the AM3 crowd so don't expect to find one for any less than maybe $40 or so, normally they go for more. Just saw one going for $47.50, however be aware that the majority of these on fleabay are from China so check where it's listed as being.

If the motherboard supports a FX 83XX CPU I would get one of those as there pretty cheap now to get, I see the FX 8350s sell for $100 AUS Dollars so like $70 US for a CPU that will be able to run all games still.

Has it got 8GB RAM?

USe that CPU to see if the board and ram works. Then pick up a cheap 4 core like the 960T and make a NAS out of it. Or Linux and donate the PC

No it's an AM3 only board that has the white CPU socket - I do know of only a couple that will run an AM3+ with it but that board isn't one of them.

The image @trickson showed is the AM3+ socket

From this post ( Please note it does have the black socket which is AM3+) only certain 890 Based AM3 mobos could run a 8350 or higher namely the Asus CH4

It can run all the way to 8370e.

I just wouldn't push it further than Turbocore function without a fan over the vrm heatsink.

OK - you're right about that, it does support AM3+.
I still would not run anything over a 95W chip due to the really cheap quality Nikos MOSFETs in it. I have 4 MSI's here and ALL but one are dead due to VRM failure. I know my old MSI 790FX-GD70 died with my 1100T in it running at stock when it went.

The one that still works is fine for a Sempy or dual core (870A-G54).

Good to know, hopefully MSI doesn't follow Gigabytes revision process where each revision the board gets cheaper in components.
