I am not sure about this, but isn't 1.528 a quite high stock VID for 22nm?

He's probably got voltage set to auto, which is infamous for overloading the CPU with very high voltage when overclocking. 1.5v is very high for that chip and may damage it fast. Also, I don't expect your chip to be stable at 4.7GHz... 4.5GHz stable is probably around the top end, with high voltage and temps. I would try 4.4GHz at 1.4v, and do some stability testing with Prime95. 12 hours blend for me is enough to call it good. If it passes, I would shave voltage off until unstable, go a few notches up from that point, and if stable, call it good.

invest in corsair and as for the h100i; cooler temperatures will require vigour, might, magic and a few boogies but will be well worth the investment. MOAR FANS
and that 4.7ghz is meticulously light overclocking for that h100i. gauge how much you need to have.

I have had no other experience than the best only with air cooling

Lower that voltage man, that chip will die very soon, 1.25v - 1.3v is kind of a safe area to be in for 24/7. Offset voltage is the way to go but it's rather complicated :)

If you passed break in than the thermal paste should be reapplied. 200 hrs for mx-4 and =>80 hours of use, depends on brand. invest in a good thermal paste substitute. pk-3 and mx-4 are my favorite but mx-2 lasts FOREVER

voltage doesn't kill silicon amperage does
if he hasn't been running it at max load for the past 24h then its likely fine

Anyone deserves a chance to see the imperturbable threshold of pain the 4960x can take before it goes lights out. but i would keep voltages at 1.45 max for a 6 core

I think you fail and he deserves a chance to see the imperturbable threshold of pain the 4960x can take before it blows the f*** up.

4,7ghz is a decent overclock as long as you lock in a reasonable voltage

My 4960X did 4.5Ghz at 1.25V. You can probably lower that voltage even more, or raise the clocks.
