So I took off my heatsink to clean it and after the clean, I was a little short on thermal paste. The thermal paste I've been using was really crappy and was kind of solid when applying. As I was short of some, I mixed the remaining with a drop of vegetable oil and put it all back together. Now the system boots up fine and everything seems normal, including the temps. Temps are a little less now about 3-4 C less.

Am I safe with this vegetable oil mix? I am using it right now

oh lol.

well techinically it would work, but what i'd be worried about is it evaporating over time or even worse - leaking out and making stuff go boom.

I suggest you buy some arcticlean and MX2 thermal paste, and go do it right. No rush... you should be ok for a few days.

the reason i think its not so bad is because there have been several succesful attempts at submerging PC's in oil.

Vegetable oil causes corrosion eventually, but since its only a small amount and on a CPU heatspreader, i dont think theres much to get corroded,
