Help with weird Vista + IE problem

My friend has a laptop that runs Vista, and has a weird problem with IE 7. Every time at startup, IE 7 loads a blank, white page. He has been using Firefox, and ever since that was made the default browser, it's been doing that crap. Sometimes it's easy to remove, other times not so much.

Is there someway to disable that from happening every time?

go into IE's properties and change the default home page.
