Just watched an awesome trailer of Heroes of the Storm, now Blizzard's all stars are gathering together, will you have a try?

Introduction from Wikipedia: Heroes of the Storm is an upcoming multiplayer online battle arena video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, and OS X. The basis of the game is the combination of heroes from Blizzard's Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft franchises. It is planned to be a free-to-play digitally distributed online game, supported by micro-transactions.As of August 2013, the game was in internal testing at Blizzard.Blizzard for the moment is avoiding calling their game a "MOBA" or an "Action RTS" because they feel it is something different.

It's in the game somewhere. I like the idea of HOTS (not heart of the swarm, but thats awesome too), as you dont have to go back to base for items, and the team levels up together. Interesting mechanics. Dont know if it will do well or not, but its Blizzard, so they will probably do OK at the very least.

Interesting. Who'd have thought that DOTA mod would spawn 3 spin offs down the road. I'll definitely try this one but idk if i'll like it anymore or less than LoL. I don't care for Dota 2 as load times of 5 minutes kills me. LoL is like 1min tops wait.

You don't play a game cause of load times? I don't remember it being 5 minutes when i played.

well i was playing LoL at the time, my bro bought me Dota 2, i tried playing for a half hour, fun gameplay, just rather play LoL games every 20 seconds or less wait time wise. I may give it another shot. Just playing a lot fo games as it is, SC2 campaign, Rift, Crysis, Sims 3.

I've had the opposite. Loading times for DotA 2 are about 30 seconds where as LoL since you have to wait for everyone to load from the get go tends to be several minutes. Yes, finding matches in LoL is a bit faster, but it is completely nullified by the fact that it takes 2-5x as long to get the game going as DotA 2.

I find it more interesting that Blizzard made WC3 which spawned DotA, which spawned dozens of remakes\reimagination (Demigod, HoN, LoL, Awesomenaughts), whcih lead Blizzard to make it's own variation of a mod of one of its original games. It's kind of insane that a mod to one of their games has gotten so popular that they themselves are making a variation of the game. Should be interesting.

As for the actual game, I'll give it a go. It seems like a new take on the genre--doing away with the simple 3 lane design and streamlining the experience. At the very least it will get a lot of people into the MOBA\ARTS genre, which is nice. I love DotA 2 but understand the learning curve scares a lot of people away, and LoL is just a stripped down DotA 2 which kind of bugs me, there's a lot of room for an introductory game and all signs point to HotS being that game. According to the RPS first impressions article it was very intuitive and very easy to learn which means people will gobble the game up...
