[Hexus]Catalyst 9.3 Windows 7 support...

As all of my news submissions get 'missed' I thought I'd throw this up for those that are interested. Hexus have managed to get their hands on the 9.3 set of ATi's Catalyst drivers which has been given some pretty special, Windows 7 support.

I knew about this, but havent posted anything, as it may as well be left to the announcement of the release of the driver, due later today.

Also the news inbox is clogged with a lot of spam, so it is easy to miss a genuine submission.

I'm guessing the snag is the fact they are comparing Vista x64 to Win 7 x86. :wtf:

I have literally just tried out the NVIDIA 181.71 Win 7 drivers, and although they gave me a minute (could be seen as neglibible) boost in Vantage, I'm going back to 182.08 drivers as these arent down clocking on idle.

Yeah the snag was the fact they're comparing Vista64 with Win7x86. Hopefully they'll revisit the review when they can test it with 64bit 7.

Posted on TCMagazine this morning:

Coming later today, the Catalyst 9.3 graphics card driver is, according to its maker the "industry's first unified driver installation package to incorporate Windows 7 support."

I just cant see the point of making an article to say its coming, then another to say its out.

On a side note, i fail to see why people would hail these first official 7 drivers glorious compared to the abyssimal first release drivers for Vista.

You have to bear in mind that ATI had close to 3 years (or more) to develop and improve Vista drivers. It was really a no brainer for them to adapt them to Windows 7 wich is built on Vista anyway and not an entirely a new OS.
