Since you guys were so helpful before I came here first.

Having an issue with the PC once again. This time, when ever I open an explorer window to browse and go through some files and try to create a new folder explorer just shuts down and I get this drwtsn.exe error of some sort. Happens in any folder I'm on any drive. It happens when I try to right click or even click on the File drop down menu.

Tried running Malaware and that didn't solve it so I have no idea what the issue could be.

Any and all help is appreciated!

almost resembles the xvid crashing which is simple as reinstalling xvid new version...but a couple of things don't fit ...like that should only happen in folders that have video files and nothing to do with menus.

When I say explorer, I don't mean IE, just a folder I'm opening on my desktop lets say, or just trying to make a folder on my desktop I keep getting that error

Try running Chkdsk with both options selected. I've seen oddities like this when the HDD needed a bit of cleaning.

I suggest completing your system specs and also letting us know what version (including 32/64 bit) of Windows you're running. We can help you more effectively if you do.

Easiest way out, disable error reporting all together.
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-5276398.html

Solution 1 disables error reporting, Solution 2 disables entire service iirc.

EDIT: sorry, that's for just windows error reporting, might not fix problem.

Yea, dr watson is a debugger/error report, and you probably don't debug ever, so there's no need for it.

Try this for starters:
Goto <Start>, then <accessories>, then right click on <command prompt> and click on <run as administrator>
In the command window at the prompt type (with out the quotes) "sfc /scannow". Be sure to leave a space between the sfc and /scannow.

As, qubit stated, your OS and system spec info would be very helpful.

And, a little more info, such as, have you installed any drivers or software lately? Made any hardware changes? Smack your system with a hammer or anything?

How about a little more detail of the crash, the description is sort of vague.

:)

2GB of RAM

I haven't installed any new hardware or software recently besides Malawarebytes. And I wouldn't really call it a crash, but when ever I try to make a new folder on my desktop lets say, or move a folder from one hard drive to another, or just right click on my desktop I get a Windows Explorer error and then it followed by the Dr Watson error, and my computer won't respond until I open the task manager and manually end the drwtsn.exe, and there are two of the drwtsn.exe as well.

Anything else you guys need let me know

I know you probably don't want to hear this Neph, but a disk wipe and re-install may be the answer.

It's always better to go to drastic measures than let the computer win.

Just saying. ;)

Yeah, I was debating doing that as well by this point. Just don't want to invest the time needed to do it >_<

Hi Nephew,

before taking drastic measures(like reinstalling), try some other stuff.
You said the only change you've made to your pc is installing Malawarebytes' antimalware right?
Well i've read around that it causes a lot of trouble and even deletes system required files, various users at the Malawarebytes forums report explorer, file transfer and other stuff not working anymore after a scan and clean with that software. So my suggest is to uninstall the antimalware and see if things turn right.

If they don't, try a pc restore to a point of time when your pc was working fine, using system restore(start-all programs-accessories-system utilities-system restore).

Other than that, consider installing windows xp sp3 as i noticed you still have sp2.If the problem is just related to dr Watson's exe, sp3 will install a new copy of it.

Cheerz
