Hi guys need advice upgrading Vid card

Hi guys im considering upgrading my video card my cpu is e2140 , 2 gigram currently im using a ati radeon 2400 pro card atm, im wanting to upgrade for better GAming what would be the best card 200-250 usd for my System .thx u

what resolution do you game at? id say just buy a 9600gt, bags of performance and dead cheap at around $150 on newegg.

otherwise you can wait for the next round of gfx cards from ati which is a couple months away, the hd4xxx series

Also, if your planning on looking into a new motherboard, the Asus P5N-e is nice granted its a little dated for its time but would run that e2140 very well.

Yeah i was thinking about the 8800gt or 9600gt series but thought the card was to new for my Cpu and wouldnt run the card to its capacity that would be a wast of a nice card ^^

you mean bottlenecking right? yes it exists but it is overrated. one card will still perform better than the other, just not to its full potential, dont worry about it.
if you were pairing a celeron d with a 9800gtx, then theres cause for concern. your e2140 will be just fine with either 9600gt or 8800gt

the 9600GT should go very well with your setup, and with a mild cpu o/c you can let it shine.

I would agree with everyone else here and say 9600GT

I think you said you could spend 200 - 250..... I also recommend a new mobo too, you could get a p35 chipset board real real cheap, and its worth upgrading that 945 board you have now.
That would leave you spendin right around 250 for a new mobo and a 9600GT, your computer will be pretty nice!

danm thx guys for these great advice this is my first time in any pc internet forum and so far its THE BEST ^^ and il go with the 9600gt and about changing a new mofo board il guess i can wait abit longer b4 i change it would be a wast atm to throw a perfectly fine board in the cupboard.... my first PC forum was TPU, and I havnt signed up for any other forum. I just started in forums about 4 months ago, Im very happy I found TPU cause I have no reason to go elsewhere!

I think this board would fit your build very nicely. Price wise, and for performance. Ive used it a few times, it overclocks the e2100 series procs really nicely and it will play very nicely with a 3870/9600GT video card!

thx asb2106 il keep that board in mind when i look to buy one and about O/C ive never done in my life so that will be a new learning experience il look around the forum for O/C advice i guess ^^

im guessing they were budget psu? if so after you get your 9600 i would invest in a solid psu

well the first 3 were atec branded psu if i spelt that right and the one im using atm that i bought 4 days ago after the third one suddenly went out at night,yeah but its no name i just bought it at my local pc store its called Besta and it 500watt thats teh current one in my pc as i typ ^^

ouch, what you really want in a psu is a decent brand, wattage and amperage.

for example a 500watt generic psu wont touch a 420w brand name jobbie.

Eek! Please when you buy the video card, look into like 400W FSP or ePower. Oh also about your previous comment on the motherboard, can always keep it as a backup.

yeah guys i dun mind getting a better Psu at all but atm im trying to figure out whats causing all my previouse psu to DIE . ive did some minor changes in my room and fixed some power problem i think that was causing the problem ^^ and yeah if i did get a GUD psu and it went BOOM that would be sad
