So, long story short. I have 1 msi and 2 xfx rx 580 8gb that I used to mine about 3 years ago. Before changing bios I have backed up stock ones. After a year of minig, I decided to stop and not sell those cards. I flashed stock bios back, at least I think i did. Those cards I decided to try later on my pc, son plays fortnite, and I edit pics in lightroom and photoshop. Than some strange things start to hapen. With each card Pc would freeze, black screen or sometimes grey, vents speed up and I would have to force turn off PC. Tried newest drivers etc. So, I put 1660ti to the same pc, removed amd drivers and install nvidia. PC works fine, so I belive that amd gpus have some problems. Could you look up my Msi bios for start, it has micron memory. I putted it on my ex mining rig tonight just to take pics for info. From what I saw it looks good. Can anyone confirm please?
Thank you

Im going to straight up say that those cards are probably toast. Mining takes a heavy toll on cards.

Try using MSI afterburner and underclocking cards to see if that makes any difference, If it doesnt then those cards are most likely too far gone to save. Im talking Critical. Hardware. Failure.

Yup mining abuse

Replace thermal paste and pads, get a pic of white stickers on back/barcode and a pic of a ram chip while replacing thermal paste...

Cards mined maybe a year, use to have 12 of them, other 9 I sold to some of my friends very cheap, they knew the cards mined, and working fine still for games and normal use :/ I always watched that temps never reach more than 65-70c, cleaned them once a week. Average temps were about 62c. Hynex (if I remember) on xfx were even less. I'll try to remove vents and take pic of chip. So BIOS looks ok, if you know? Thank you

Hello Josip.
In the picture you uploaded about the BIOS file, i noticed that you underlined in the upper right corner the Samsung memory.
Is the any chance (some BIOS files are made for 2 types of memory) to press the down button and to select the other memory, in our case Micron ?
On the other hand please put some picture with each card's labels (stickers) and a picture from GPU-z of that card.
We need to correctly identify the video card and memory producer.
If you can, it would be better if you open each of then and put a picture with the memory chips.
That will narrow our search.
Besides that i want to ask you about your video driver for AMD card. You cleaned the system 1st using a DDU?
If not, before flashing the cards i would suggest to start reinstalling the drivers, then in case we still have problems we go further.
We wait for your feedback.
Cheers

Hi, I posted gpu-z and bios from the card opened in polaris bios editor of the MSI. On the right corner I can select samsung, hynex and Micron memory. I would like to solve problem for the MSI first )cause it has only one BIOS, not switch unlike xfx cards (dual bios). I didn't ddu i just updated old drivers. At first it would happen sometimes in a month or two, now it's happening alot in a day, so I pulled out card by card to test it. I can try ddu and test again. One thing came to my mind, could it be PSU cause I noticed once strange smell from it, tought it was dust burnt. Afer that one time smell never happend again :/ Maybe something is wrong with PSU and 1660ti uses less power?

OK
Let's take it in little steps.
1st - please boot system in safe mode and run DDU and clean the drivers.
Install the driver that you had on computer (the old one which was functioning well). If this won't make it work then you should try to install AMD enterprise drivers for your card. (i am 99% sure that this is the cause)
2nd- if this will fail (which i doubt) you must flash a new BIOS in your card.
The BIOS you already have should be ok as long as it is your original BIOS and as you said you can select Micron.
Regarding the smell :( - that is not welcome in any computer.
Please try to identify the source of the smell and take a closer look at that device (either PSU either some electronic component from mother board or video card.)
Keep us informed

Hi again, just came from the work and took cooler off to be sure about memory chip. It has M, so it's Micron. Didn't have time to replace 1660 with msi rx 580 from pc to test with DDU yet. Thanks for helping me out and sry for my bad English, grestings from Croatia ️

Ok then we have a Micron chip.
But now let's get back to our business.
Clean up the system using DDU, and install the working drivers.
