What games do you think are hidden gems. i.e great games that many people do not know about or are undervalued.

I am always trying to find new games that are really good but may not be widely known. My hidden gems are star wars knights of old republic, empire earth, Capitalism II, supreme ruler 2020, Hacknet. Observation, Deadly premonition(although has terrible controls), no one lives forever, Indigo prophecy, bayonetta. Also supreme commander although this was a popular game its overshadowed by starcraft and I would say supreme commander is the best rts.

So post your hidden gems for pc or even consoles.

The STALKER series is a great set of games that most people don't seem to know about. Alien Swarm was great fun for a while, but it's probably totally dead now. Spiral Knights was also a really fun game, but the developers kinda killed it with the last big update, and were basically milking it with mtx before they pawned it off to some other publisher(?) that send to be keeping the game going for the same purpose.

Late 90s games such as: Interstate '76, Battlezone series, Dark Reign series. I believe those are obscure games.
Or how about afree & open-source turn-based tactical strategy game with a high fantasy theme such as The Battle For Wesnoth.

Unfortunately time flies too fast and tons of great stuff gets outdated and forgotten, some examples:

Alpha Protocol
Siphon Filter
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Binary Domain
Blades of Time
Condemned: Criminal Origins

Every now and then some dev scratches the barrel and re-releases/remasters old stuff but it's not gonna be the same anymore.

In your list, only Shogo: MAD, Blades Of Time & maybe Alpha Protocol are the one that can be considered either niche/undervalued/obscured. The rest are well known enough at some point during their release.
Love Shogo & Binary Domain, BTW.

I have put so many hours playing this game with my kids. It has some quirks and a little bit of a learning curve, but GREAT military strategy across pretty large maps. A quick mod to let you build custom decks with multinational equipment and this game has tons of different strategies to playout against opponents. I truly love this game.

Valley immediately comes to mind. For me it is one of the most fun games I’ve played, yet hardly anyone knows of it. Loose story revealed slowly through discovery, but good puzzles and exciting action where you are capable of great speeeds and dizzying leaps! You can find it on Steam.

+1 also for Alpha Protocol!!

There are way too many to remember.
The original Space Rangers (not the HD that's on Steam now), Penumbra series, Timeshift, Valley, Enderal: Forgotten Stories (started as TES5 mod, but ended up as a complete big-ass game).
Also I've noticed Hacknet in OP, so I guess I have to put Hacker: Evolution and Uplink on my list, plus every Zachtronics game in existence.
If you like classic shooters, then definitely try Amid Evil (about as close as we'll get to proper Heretic sequel), Quake Champions Doom Edition (QCDE, can be played on either zdoom or zandronum engine port, has interesting single-player campaign).

BTW, not sure how Bayonetta got "hidden", it was Platinum's ticket to success. Beat it at least 5 times on PS3, and still playing occasionally on PC.

Ancient by today's standards but: the first two Gothic games and Blade of Darkness. Also the first Spellforce. And whoever mentioned Supreme Commander should be flogged for not mentioning Total Annihilation ;)
I'm not sure the first two Witcher titles got the attention they deserved at the time.

I actually have project snowblind on steam, not played it for a long time. i will install it for another look.

The STALKER series is a great set of games that most people don't seem to know about.
Got all three in steam, they are great but always seemed a little cranky to me, if you know what i mean.

Alpha protocol is a good one, I like how you can make choices and rpg your player in a spy game. Shogo is good, I never got to into it but it was a cool idea. I wouldnt doubt titanfall was inspired by it. Thanks for posting the games guys I will have to check some of them out. Stalker was interesting, I played that, metro was probably inspired by it but I remember it being really hard and I kept dying and the game being buggy.

I know total annihilation and supreme commander are similar games but I never played total annihilation. I actually played witcher 1 when it came out and I thought it was really weird but promising so I was excited to see witcher 2. Which i still hvae not beat, Im close to the end but it kind of gets boring.

Can't claim to know a lot of obscure games, but Dark Reign always has a place in my heart because Dark Reign 2 was the very first video game that had ever been shown to me. Years later, it took days of combing the Internet to find it again. I was a little shocked (but upon further investigation, much less so) to find it poorly received on account of its game mechanics, but there's something about the story and atmosphere that makes it feel unique to me.

Anyone who read the books did not like that Game.

after watching the video, yeah.... looks like a generic 90's shooter with WoT words slapped on top.

Dragon's Dogma.

It's a criminally underrated open-world action RPG with the single best combat system of any open-world game (The only other game that comes close, in my opinion, is BotW). It also has the best companion system of any game I've played.

The world is kinda meh, the main story is alright, the side quests are meh, but the combat and the excellent (and challenging) Dark Arisen expansion more than make up for those shortcomings.

Also the soundtrack is awesome.

You are totally correct in your assessment the Wolves are just as hard to kill as The Witcher series. Of the hundreds (closer to 1000) of Games I have this is one of the few for which I have written a review on Steam. If there is one word to describe the combat it would kinetic. Like the controls on Devil May Cry.

after watching the video, yeah.... looks like a generic 90's shooter with WoT words slapped on top.
It was 1999 so between Everquest, System Shock 2 and Freespace 2 this Game was quickly found out for being exactly that.

Made by a dev team in my country, played that damn thing so much in my elementary school years that I still remember the name of all of the races and everything.
I own the old double box CD copy version of it.
If ony this game had a proper remake with current gen graphics I would insta buy it for full price.

Risk your Life 1 and 2.

Those are online/old school MMOs but it was like the only time when I actually enjoyed playing a PvP game and nothing since.
Game was pretty much dead even back then when I played it so had to play it on private servers tho 'better than official anyway'.

Enclave

I remember that back in its time this game was rather impressive, at least to me.
Even the menu desing was cool and the graphics were good for its time.

I don't know if I have any "hidden" gems, but I always felt Jade Empire never gets the attention it deserves/deserved. A truly hidden gem is of course Bumping Balls 4, a game made by my cousin-in-law, and as such doesn't exist on the internet anymore. A great old school adventure that sometimes gets forgotten when listing great old school adventures is Full Throttle. And a game I just love but never see mentioned is Crimsonland.

@Sithaer +1 for Enclave. I actually remembered it while posting my list, I just couldn't recall the name.
