use real temp it works better for 45nm cpu's also alot of the 45nm CPU's had a bad habit of getting stuck sensors..

Have you tried the test sensors of the Real Temp to see if the first core is stuck?

Nope, dunno how its done.. Any useful guides with pictures if it can be done easily without damaging the processor? This is a new processor, so should i exchange/return it?

well if you have thermal paste just pop off the cooler clean it with alcohol and put some new thermal paste on it and reseat it.

Ok before i experiment with the HS, the stuck sensor would only provide incorrect temperatures? Am i right in assuming the CPU is working fine?

You could RMA it for a new one, or you could just use the working core sensor as a basis for your other core and run it normally.

Hmm.. I think i'l prefer to use this.. When do i consider that temp are reaching dangerous levels for Core # 1? The temp. for both cores are similar right?

I m an occasional gamer so i don't think temp should reach levels where there is a possibility of the CPU getting burnt.. What do u say?

Thanks.

Yeah, you are good. I have two good sensors and as you can see, idle or load the cores are the same. Unless you are overclocking and adding voltage like a madman, you will have absolutely no problem with temperatures.:)

Oh cool.. Just one last question.
In the BIOS the temp of CPU is 25C.. What is that? Is it averaged for both cores or something?

Thanks again.

You should RMA it for new one. The CPU temp in bios is not processor temp, but of area around CPU.

Got the processor replaced..
Temperatures with new processor

Just wanted to know whether C1E in BIOS should be disabled or not? Also the clock speed changes in cpu-z, 2666.7 mhz changes to 2666.8, 2666.9. Is that normal?
Thanks

Hey I had a stuck sensor on my E8400.

It got 'cured' during the process of overclocking, probably because I ran Orthos and Intel Burn test for a lot of time.
I don't know if this makes sense, but it worked for me.

If you intend to overclock yes, disable C1E and SpeedStep in BIOS.
You can put them back later. I have my processor at 4Ghz but re-enabled them so that when I'm not gaming the processor runs at 2.67Ghz.

Yes the minor changes in clock speeds are normal.

Well I won't overclock but I do game occasionally. Is there any advantage of running the processor at lower clock speed? Say when I am downloading 24x7?

heatoutput and wattage is lower...so it runs cooler and you use less juice when you underclock...but remember you need to undervlot when you underclock to get the benifit of saving power.
