HighPoint, an industry leading Storage HBA and solutions manufacturer, has officially launched its second generation USB 3.0 Storage Dock - the RocketStor 5422.
HighPoint's innovative dual-5Gb/s bay architecture and UAS support deliver an unprecedented level of transfer bandwidth for a USB-based storage solution. The RocketStor 5422 is the industry's fastest dual-bay USB 3.0 storage dock, and is ideal for high-speed 6Gb/s SATA SSD's and 4TB hard drives.

UAS (USB Attached SCSI) is a computer protocol that is used to transfer data to and from USB storage devices such as hard drives, solid state drives (SSDs) and thumb/flash drives. UAS is dependent on the USB protocol, and utilizes the standard SCSI command set. UAS offers maximized bandwidth utilization, and can handle multiple data transfer requests simultaneously, unlike the slower queue system of BOT (Bulk Only Transport), which only provides single-task commands - each task must complete before the next begins. As a result, USB 3.0 connections working in UASP mode result in higher transfer speeds and lower CPU utilization. UAS clears data queues faster, which results in smoother-operating PCs.

The RocketStor 5422 delivers unprecedented USB 3.0 performance when paired with HighPoint's 3rd generation RocketU 1144C HBA. Both devices are fully UAS enabled, and are designed to maximize the performance potential of USB 3.0 connectivity.

Uncompromised High Performance Storage
The RocketStor 5422 gives you the freedom to use any off-the-shelf SATA disk - from today's fastest SSD's and high-capacity multi-terabyte hard drives, to cost-effective SATA I and II devices. The open-topped design and hot-plug/hot-swap support allows you to quickly access any industry standard SATA hard drive or SSD. The compact form factor and rugged, lightweight construction make it an excellent portable storage solution for laptop PC's and Macbooks with dual USB 3.0 ports.

No Mess - No Hassle
The RocketStor 5422 requires a minimal amount of physical workspace; the open-topped device bays allow you to use any generation of 2.5"/3.5" SATA SSD & hard drive. The dual-USB and power cables can be easily removed and installed as needed, ideal for multi-system access and storage on the go. True Plug & Play design allows you to add or remove disk on the fly, as needed, risk-free.

Availability and Pricing
The RocketStor 5422 is available immediately from HighPoint's world-wide network of Distribution and Retail channels. MSRP is US $99.00.
