His hd6850 cfx vs hd5850 toxic cfx

Hi guys, i need your help on that one...
i got a refund from a store and i can get neither of those pairs
witch one you think would give me the best performance overall?
consider OC abilities

A 5850 > a 6850, but 6000 series have better CFX scaling. In the end I'd go w/ the 6850 since 11.4 gives the 6000 series a nice bump and they are more power efficient.

If you can squeeze, I'd go for a pair of 6870s.

It's not difficult. Buy whatever is cheaper. You'll be happy with either setup.

Yes. 6850's "shred" with overclocking too.

try compering the 37% freq increase over stock at HD5850 against HD6850's 20%, its not that easy you know.
TOXIC HD5850 can give me 1Ghz core easily no questions asked. but with HD6850 even 925MHZ is tricky

So? Flip a coin. When you are comparing them in CrossFire (regardless of overclock) the 6850 wins in scaling alone.

I vote for the 6850s too. Newer process, more efficient.

You won't see performance difference b/t the two setups when gaming or using the computer. But if you're set on the 5850s then go w/ that.

Hd68** are better in dx11 so get those 6870's they are better

Yes but again as was mentioned in the first post the scaling is better on 6000 and this is KEY as we are talking about Crossfire. Thus you will "get more" out of the second card in a 6000-series setup compared to 5000-series. This is what made me go through the hassle of selling my 5850 (for only $140 too) and getting two 6850s. Very happy with them for the price especially when I see them tear through Crysis, for example, at 55-70 fps at 1920x1200 4X AA Very High (+ 16X AF using ZPOMAF mod) due to the fact it is using damn near 100% of my second GPU as well. All games won't be that "good" but generally the scaling is a lot better.
