After I get my computer tower fully assembled the last part I'll be buying is this GPU then flashing it to both 6970 shaders and clock. Since the ASUS 890GX motherboard I have already has an integrated GPU, 4290 I believe, would I leave the drivers for it before flashing the 6950 2GB to 6970? No overclocking and it's $100 cheaper compared to buying the 6970.
Would I need anymore informationto share to help with this?

I'm not interested in overclocking it.

Hi

Next time you log in please go to User CP and fill in your system spec's and the brand names of your components; thanks, this will help other member of TPU to assist you further

nb: before fitting your HD6950; you would need to remove your onboard vga drivers and ensure onboard vga is disabled in the bios (most bios's will do this automatically when your HD6950 is fitted but you should check this anyway)

Put in the system specs of the computer I'm building? No damn way would I put the specs of the pre-built computer I'm using.

Thanks though! First time for trying this but it'll be later in the year.

Hi

Use the time wisely read up on vga bios flashing; you will need to know how to blind flash as well if things don't go to plan, study everything there is to know.

nb: search for bricked cards; this will show you where others went wrong, should allow you to aviod their misfortune.

atb & good luck

Small update. I'm thinking I might get the GPU in September or October at the latest. Depending on if my pre-built computer will sell or not.

Give up on flashing to 6970. Companies caught onto that months ago. Just because something's got a dual bios doesn't mean it'll work. No new card will allow you to do that.

My local Fry's STILL has some reference 6950's in a secret location where I hid them. Amazingly the staff still haven't found them after a month. They actually still had about 6 reference 6950 2gb's in the normal graphics card / monitor area in the back. 3 XFX and 3 Diamond. They might have had some MSI reference but I couldn't tell. Anyone who wants a reference one - I can do the purchasing and you can reimburse me.
