    Hi all
Purchased the above second hand and the fan spins at 100% all the time from bootup.
Any ideas anyone? have tried to find a new bios but to no avail.
    Thank you

have you tried setting the fan speed lower in the CCC overdrive section? previous owner may have bios modded it to 100%

Catalyst does not give the fan speed option (9.1)
Tried the registry edit setting of all 2's but still did not give the fan slider.

I'm not sure what to do next - lets wait for someone who has more experience with the x2 cards to come along.

At what temps are the GPU's running at and have you pulled the card out to see if the heatsinks are clogged with dust?

You should reflash your card with the original bios files for both gpu's, which you can find here at TPU in the video bios files section. And yes, only the master GPU will have a fan profile, as there is only one fan on the card and it's tied to the master GPU. GPU 0 and 1. 0 being the master. If you search the forum, you will find a guide on how to do this.

    Thanks everyone

Tried all the info did all the flashes- still fan is going like hell!!!

Card seems to be working on furmark tests and max temp around 70
Interestingly the fan sped up even more!!!

I think I have two options:
    1. Get a passive aftermarket cooler if one exists
    2. Sell the card!!!!!!

    Again thank you all.

    UPDATE

I have sold the HIS 3870x2 as is.

Something else that I have discovered,I also have a Powercolor HD 3870 x2 (The enhanced DDR4 Version PCB)

I have since replaced the Powercolor 3870x2 with a Sapphire HD 3870 (single card 512 Meg)

Higher scores than the Powercolor!!!! :

    Crystal Mark 2004R3

Powercolor 1 GIG. 3870x2 (Single card) PCB version with GDDR4

    mark 126416

    OGL 42224

    -------------------------------------------------

    Sapphire 3870 512 Meg.

    Mark 136382

    OGL 51997

    -----------------------------------------------------

I am not concerned rather delighted actually the Sapphire only cost £40 GBP as opposed to £100 for the Powercolor!!!

    Just a ref. for everyone.
