Hello everyone, I am building a second rig, same components as the one I have, but this time I cant get a Nitro+ model for a reasonable price, atleast not a 8gb model.

But I got really good offers on a HIS RX 580 IceQ X2 8Gb and a XFX RX 580 GTS XXX 8Gb, so which one would you recommend overall, cooling wise and noise ? Thanks :)

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Check out reviews and see... ;)

I don't imagine a huge difference between the two, really.

There are literally 0 reviews for the HIS one, it seems they are preety rare outside of Asia, so I cant really get info on its cooling, and for the XFX I wonder how's the cooling in general since I heard a lot of bad about XFXs cooling, so I just wondered if anyone can share his personal oppinion on these cards, since temps in reviews are mostly different than those of normal users. :D

Their specs are identical, but it's kinda hard to say. Is there a noticeable price difference between those?

I would go XFX, the HIS has 4 phases and from what I can tell the GTS model and up (Black Edition and GTR) appear to have 6 phase, apart from that their stock performance is likely to be very similar but if the HIS comes in considerably less and/or you don't overclock then just go for price.

I think I read somewhere the GTS has 4+1, but yeah I dont overclock and just asked to be sure not to pick HIS and realize it was a mistake just because it may be living on old glory.
For the power phases, I found a RX480 IceQ x2 review and they talked really bad about its power phase design, so could it be a problem on the RX580?

A review I found, on Tomshardware, although for the HIS RX 480 IceQ X2 Roaring Turbo, which has 6+2, but the problem was more directed toward HIS pp design and not to the number of phases;

"HIS' RX 480 IceQ X² Roaring Turbo isn't a bad implementation of the Radeon RX 480. It does, however, suffer from an inappropriate distribution of power phases. This leads to current flow through the motherboard's PCIe slot that's almost 30% higher than the PCI-SIG's maximum specification."

Thats why I mentioned it, idk if they fixed that on the 500 series

I am sure that HIS 580 has a 4 + 2 phase, whereas the XFX as far as I can see from a PCB in a review I checked has 6 + 1. Personally I would go for the XFX if only because as you said, you don't find a lot of them (HIS) around in Europe and thinking of warranty etc XFX may be the safest bet too.

I think all the 480's had the issue of potentially wanting more than 75 watt from the slot.

I'm happy with my XFX. Construction seems OK. I like the backplate. They have treated me good with warranty issues in the past.

Will consoder it till I go get one of them !

Im buying used atm, the prices are extremely high here for new gpus, there are no Visiontek ones here :(, and the price jump to a nitro+ is ridiculous, those 2 are ~100$, a nitro+ used is ~150$ lol

If only it was the black edition, its the standard GTS :ohwell:

almost all model of 580 running on 70c, some might below, not sure if its new ice queen, as for nitro+ brand new run on 65c or so, overall is good card, the oc model can reach close enough red dragon/devil/nitro score, one think i dont rly like is pretty noise fans :)
pros no need much power consumption, x1 8pin only:)
and i would say you better get 580 instead 480, they are all hot cards, even the rog/nitro series:)

My nitro+ is preety hot (73~75C) but it was used for mining before so its reasonable, and im too lazy to change the paste :D , its actualy also a bit noisy so I wouldnt mind it, just that it isnt vacuum noisy level..the temps are great for me under 80C im good.

Who knows maybe I'll just end up buying both lol, but thanks all for the feedback!

I'm using 2 XFX RX580 GTS XXX 8GB, both cards are running stable at 1500mhz, its sad that crossfire is not supported anymore.
They're both back in one of my systems, due to my RX 5700 XT giving problems.
Great cards and XFX in my experience, has good customer service, I had to RMA on of my cards due to a memory issue and they had it back to me in less than 2 weeks.

I think I have a hardware issue on my 5700 XT, I posted the issue I'm having with it, drivers nor bios have done anything to remedy the issue.

Im trying to RMA it right now, but ASRock wants me to go through the retailer that I bought it from, but they went out of business just before Christmas and I'm having a hard time making them understand that is not an option for me.

Explain the retailer went out of business, if they had a web address that doesn't work now show them along with the invoice.

On the flipside, XFX uses the shittiest thermal paste I have ever seen out of the box. Just got done replacing mine: stuff was like hardened clay. May even be the "Dow Corning" thermal paste Intel uses, ironically. It's very similar.

XFX build quality otherwise is pretty decent, usually.

Anyhow, thermal paste is much easier to replace than fans, and despite scary stickers, their warranty allows it.
