HIS X1950 Pro users post OCs, issues plz

I've had this card since late Novmeber, but about a month ago I had some strange artifacting that disappeared when I rebooted, and it occurred when running temps of only 51C max.
I have run this OC since I bought the card: 661.5 core/ 823.5 memory, and I ran the artifact scanner for around an hour without artifacts. I keep the fan at %100 and I have 6 case fans.
I'm getting worried because it's happening more frequently, so I lowered my memory clock to 810 and it hasn't happened again, but then again I can play for hours without it happening at 823.5, so this doesn't reassure me much!

Thats a memory issue. With it artifacting like that I would back that memory OC down some more otherwise you WILL kill the card. Backing it down to 780-800 range should see you safe. Personally I would air more toward the 780 region than 800.

Ok I will set it to 800 if 810 doesn't keep it stable. I don't want to kill it, that's for sure.
The reason I was thinking that it may not be my OC is that I ran the artifact scanner for around an hour when I first bought the card. Also, I know of a person with an HIS card that has the exact same "artifacting" and he's at stock clocks.

If the memory is overheating, will the artifact scanner catch the errors?

Just for my curiousity, I have this card, it runs very cool at the factory 721 settings, what are you using it for that you have it tweeked up so high? I am not being critical.. thanks

LOL don't worry I'm not Mr. Sensitivity. I use ATI Tray Tools for the core, Rivatuner for the memory.

I idle at 35-38 (fan %100 24/7) load in BF2142 maxes at 51C, in ATI Tray Tools artifact scanner @ 57C after ~900s. However yesterday I saw it get up to 65C after around 45 minutes of artifact scanning.
I reseated the GPU with arctic silver 5 as well.
Maybe I should give that a shot again.
I'm going to take the card out and look at the memory pads to make sure that they are in full contact with the chips.
I know ours are rated at a max clock of 700 MHz, but that doesn't even make sense, as they are clocked higher than this out of the box.

What driver are you using? On the HIS site it has the 6.12:

However I use the Warcat 7.1 driver (best for performance)
Maybe I should go back to the ATI driver. I'm wondering if this is a driver issue still, as I can run the artifact scanner with no issues, and I can play games for hours on end without issues, but sometimes the artifacting will occur after 20 minutes of play. It hasn't happened in a day or two.
Also, I didn't see this happen until January, and I've owned the card since late November.

Attached is a screeny of my current artifact scanning, in case you can't see I'm at 57C on the core. I wish I had a thermo couple that would wedge between the memory chips and the thermal pads.

Oh I don't know, performance I guess?
I guess I should compare the real-life gains from running the clocks this high.

I wonder, could this artifacting be caused by unstable system memory? I'm going to have to RMA my Team Xtreem Cronus memory because I can't get it stable at 250 MHz (spec) or even 240 MHz, and I just noticed that I forgot to set the HT speed back so that the memory was at a stable speed (~237). It was at 240 MHz when the artifacting happened the other day, and it was at that speed a few months ago when it happened as well. When I first set the OC and tested for stability I didn't have the Cronus memory, so maybe that's why I never had the issue until January.

It's weird. I've played BF2142 for about 1.5 hours with no problems. I'm pretty sure it's either a driver glitch or the fact that I forgot to set my HT speed back so my memory would be stable.

Cover that chip on the card to the bottom right of the picture with a heatsink, that sucker is probably getting to 90-100c+ under load.

I heard that those get hot. I'll see if I can get my hands on a infrared thermometer to check it.
What kind of IC chip is this? Could I touch it without the oil from my skin messing anything up?
