Hmm, Camera or ?

Okay, so, the story is, I will be hauling our travel trailer down to Arizona within the next couple of weeks.

We will be down there, at our property, or a week or so, but then have to come back up north for 2 to 3 weeks and plan on leaving the travel trailer down there.

Not knowing the area very well, I'd like to figure out what I can install as a extra security measure?

Some type of remote camera? Something that I can get alerts on my phone or something? Is there even any cameras that will do that? Would prefer it to be wireless, however I am for sure open to ideas.

Something else besides a camera?


If anyone has some ideas, that of course won't break the bank LOL, I'd love to hear them.

I have Arlo Pro 4s at my place, they have some quirks but are fast to react with notifications sent to your phone. Battery scales with activity, I ended up hooking up my front door camera with a wired adapter because batt only lasted 2-3 weeks at most, but the two in the back I don't have to recharge for like 6 months.

Subscription model, however. Though, I think they still have single per-camera plans if you only want to buy 1.

The arlo I just grabbed state 6month battery life. Had them a month now and the battery icon still shows full power, but they could bottom out next week for all I know... Lol

Not a sub fan either, but I feel you get the needed basics without it.

iirc don't think you get the ability to save any clips though. Only on-demand viewing and supposedly push notifications as well.

Some also say no motion detection, so not sure how push notifs would be useful if camera never detects anything......kinda a core feature

If paired the base station used to provide local recording storage for the cameras without the need for subscription, but the base station/smarthub looks like it's been EOL for a while, and is not compatible with the current 4th gen cameras.

Think there is still a free trial, though. Probably covers the 2-3 weeks @stinger608 needs

I'm waiting that one out to see. Trial I get is 90 days, but ya, we shall see what shakes when time runs out.

Got an old cell phone you are not using? Turn it into a security camera. I've only used Alfred Camera and all I can say is, it works, and the price is right - free! When motion is detected, it sends an alert to your regular cell, and from there, you can see what is happening.

But, it does require a local wifi network it can connect to. So obviously this old phone must support wifi, and have a motion detector in its camera system - but I think most smartphones do.

My experience with snow birds, however, is they tend to be a tight-knit group. I would make friends with your fellow trailer parkers and ask them to watch out for anything funny while you are away. You may have to return the favor, but nothing wrong with that.

Not "trailer parkers." We have 5 acres in a small community. The property is about 2 miles out of town and I'm just wanting to have some extra security while we are back up north.

Claymore. One for each possible entry point (window, door, roof hatch). And maybe combined with the stuff guys mentioned (camera, notifications on movement), so you don't miss the show if it's on. Thieves and junkies don't care about cameras nor notifications.
