This stinks of failure leaving contract to remaster a game unfulfilled.

Not sure how interesting this remaster is going to be. Outside of particle effects and soil/snow interactions there isn't a huge difference. $11 currently vs $60 or more is hard to argue.

It really is an odd choice. There are tons of games all the way back to original PS the gaming public would welcome.

I recently played through Zero Dawn and Forbidden West back-to-back and I didn't see anything in FW that made ZD obsolete or needing a refresh.

Because Sony knows that PlayStation gamers have zero impulse control and will line up to buy. The Last of Us 2 was already remastered and apparently sold well

I read a tech piece questioning the merits of any such release, but the author then stated exactly what you just said. They'd probably buy it anyway.

The game is 7 years old at this point but still visually looks fine.

As the title states, at this point all we have is assumptions, speculations, and humorous nonsensical punts tickling controversy. Business realities included. Newer players / potential new interests being given fresh consideration often goes counter to the desires of more established players.

12K screenshots using a hidden dev quality setting would be interesting to say the least. Vellus was present in HZD and removed in the sequel, if I recall correctly.

Seems like this is more or less the PC version of the game for PS5. There was a PS5 patch but it was more or less the same game with higher frame rates and native resolution if I am not mistaken. I have to assume this is the PC build ported to PS5, maybe with an HD texture pack or something. Doubt it will look much better than that is on PC. I assume it will be a minor update for PC. But I could be wrong.

I don't mind remasters or remakes for older games like The Last of Us for PC, but if this is a full on remake it really didn't need it. 7 year old games that still looks quite nice on PC at least.

just remaster the inventory management in HZD, (to be like in HFW) everything else is “perfect”…
or remaster it for the ps5pro so it works at 60fps… i do believe there is patch in the works… that might be the “remaster”…

Korean games are the last bastion for that. Even Japan isn't what it use to be during like the DOA era. I'm surprised Tifa didn't get more nerfed by Sqaurenix lol.

I do wish we'd get a proper Ninja Gaiden or DOA sequel though bit both franchise are pretty dormant.

Glad it doesn't bother me as the majority of game developers have moved away from making all the female characters look like porn stars/models.

Gaming should be fun and an outlet for having silly fun.
Not adult fantasy that has fully substituted virtual encounters for the real world or actual human interactions.

I agree and honestly they are pushing it too far I honestly think sales would be slightly better if they did a better job of straddling a middle ground.

Let's be real none of these games are very realistic to begin with it doesn't need a realistic protagonist at the same time we don't need to go back to chain mail bikinis either.... Unless it's dlc lmao.
