Hot new PC exclusive game: Hard Reset

Yes, people, it's not a crappy console port and it looks excellent! And "hard reset" is something every techy can relate to.

Many games have tried to nail the visual aesthetic of Blade Runner, a movie that all but defined the look of the future for many fans of science fiction. Hard Reset is the first game that creates the futuristic, vertically oriented dystopia in a way that feels both real and natural. As I played the game, I found myself continually watching the flying ships cruise past, advertising fictional products. Massive structures fill the sky, and the gentle movement that's always going on above your head is an impressive site.

While we like to emphasize how important gameplay is to a game's success, graphics can certainly help, and Hard Reset looks amazing. Objects have weight, the textures are sharp and clear, and the levels are teeming with detail. The trailer only tells part of the story, as you'll be exploring just as often as you're shooting, and you'll often have time to admire your surroundings. Don't get too comfortable, however. This is a game that revels in its own action.

It's coming in September, although I can't find it on preorder on Steam.

Also, it's not clear if those are DX11 graphics or not.

It looks kinda boring... It looks like every single bargain bin shooter. It's a huge deal when it comes out, doesn't live up to anyone's expectations then 2 weeks later no one is playing it and it is then $15

Funny , i just bought about 3 weeks ago the Blade Runner 5 disc Ultimate Collector's Edition for $29.xx , so happy! finaly got the original 1982 movie with the voice over on DVD which i like best...

Anyhow i can't wait for this game to come out , any game made for PC only will work better & most likely looks much much better then console crap... :rolleyes:

Looks pretty good. I'd love to support a PC exclusive if it's any good in terms of offering more than consoles ever can. Ie RPG elements with immersive world and lots of interactivity (which doesn't include eating chocolate bars and chips the same moment you pick it up). Deus Ex 1 and System Shock 2 level of immersion...

Interesting that Wikipedia says this game will have no multiplayer. Could use a nice PC only single player game.

Where does it say this game engine is built using OpenGL? That'd be great if it is, because then a MacOSX/Linux port would be considerably more feasible.

I'm now reading that this will be a Quake/Doom style game. What's the point of PC exclusive other than graphics in such case? I want immersion that only keyboard and mouse together can bring it to us. That is, complex interaction with environment, advanced inventory, manipulation of items, multiple ammo types, multiple paths to progress through game etc. Stuff that just can't be done on consoles using gamepad with its analog sticks.

I like the physics in the game and they focus on a sign with an animated butt at around 5:15 into the video. :laugh:

Those guys are soo sarcastic! They ripped Duke Nukem Forever a new one when they reviewed it, hehe. Although I didn't agree with them, that review was very entertaining. I must bookmark their site.

the name of the developer is "Flying Wild Hog" and this is their first game. I really don't think they had much choice but to develop for the PC platform as it is cheaper for a start-up company.
