Hello,
My hotspot is reaching it's maximum temp 110°, but temperature is only reaching max 75°. I don't know the reason for such a huge difference.

That difference might be because of a poor thermal paste application or a wrong sensor reading/ How is it in games, did try to monitor with HwInfo64 or GPUZ or use the overlay from AMD to check the temps in gaming ?

Yeah, It's same in pretty much any program. I don't know if i should worry about it or can I just ignore it.

Re-apply the thermal paste. It's easy to do and doesn't take long. I did a few days ago on my RX 7900 XTX and the hotspot temp dropped from 100 deg c˚ to 72 deg c˚. Now I can barely hear the fans when playing a game or running a benchmark.

Yeah, but I have never done that. I'm kinda worried about breaking something and also taking heatsink off seems and on seems hard at least from what I've seen

Bad contact and/or dried paste. Repaste the card like already mentioned.

RMA it if you don't want to repaste it yourself then. 6800 XT is probably no longer covered under warranty, though, so it will cost you. Alternatively, look for a reputable third-party service that will repaste it for you. That hot spot delta is way too large.

It needs doing, and it's an easy 15-minute job but I can understand the hesitation on a somewhat valuable GPU if you've never done anything like it before.

What model of 6800XT do you have? I suspect a youtube guide exists for it somewhere.

Repasting isn't really a scary thing to do. But like mentioned in this thread, it is just a matter of checking guides, understand them well and gather the courage ;).
When taking the heatsink off, keep in mind that you possibly also have to replace some thermal pads when they break (no harm done), just make sure you have all the spare materials when starting this endavour.

For illustration;
My delta-T is around 29C (which I consider just within acceptable range);.
[ once I finally have time to clean my custom water cooling loop I'll go for TG Kryosheet as TIM, despite the fact it is electrically conductive  and hope to reduce the delta-T ]

Has it been like this before, or did the temps increase over time? Check the fans/coolers/case filters if they need to be cleaned to improve airflow, so the GPU temps (including hotspot) go down as well.

Have a pro do it then

I think I might be able to do that. I found this video
and this one
. It doesn't seem that hard.

I have gigabyte model.

If you have a Gigabyte model. They are usually the easiest to take apart. One thing I have noticed being said is Gigabyte do not like to fully put paste on the GPU die. I will bet you a month of Humble Choice that it is exactly that. I read a posting on REddit about someone with 6500XT with 3 fans that was doing the same thing.

Alternative solution is underclock and undervolt. This could also be a temporary fix until you want to open it up.

I wish I had to time to find the video but it showed about 20% of the GPU was completely dry.

I had this issue when I had a MSI 6800XT Trio X, repasting did not fix the problem. A waterblock did fix the problem, seems that for whatever reason the original heatsink was just rubbish.

I have an XFX Merc 6800XT. It was one of the most expensive models on release.
Beautiful card, but unfortunately(like most AIBs), XFX skimped on the TIM material.

I used to run the card on 255W limit and undervolt. The GPU temp would reach about 65°C, but hotspot was easily hitting 100°C. Fans were running at 2200-ish RPM (custom fan curve to prevent card from going over 100°C, but pretty loud).

I got myself some PTM7950, undone 6 screws, replaced the TIM and put the card back together (10 minute job, if you really take your time, with dissasembly included).

Now, I'm running a custom MPT power table, reaching over 330W, GPU temps are 65°C, hotspot is usually approx. 85°C on full load, fans don't go over 2000 RPM.
Sustained full load frequencies are over 2650 MHz (people who know these cards will know this is kind of insane).

Card has been stable like this for more than 2 years now, still no degradation in performance or temperatures.

TL;DR:
Make sure your PC is clean and that all fans are working as intended.
Most probably you just need to replace TIM. The best price/performance is offered by PTM7950 from Honeywell.
Taking the card appart is fairly easy, just make sure to play a GPU intensive game for a few minutes before you do it, it will make your job a lot easier.
JUST DON'T USE REGULAR THERMAL PASTE(pump out)!
Most importantly, take it slow, take it easy, if you don't know, ask :toast:

I second this. Just took mine apart last week for a repaste. Super easy.

Just make sure you get some decent thermal paste so you only have to do this once. I've had great luck with KPx for GPU usage, but there are lots of good options like Duronaut, kryonaut, and a slew of others people on here (and probably dozens of threads if you go looking) can suggest.

I would repaste asap

Nobody mentioned this before and this is a very common issue...some screws might get lose. Before u will try to take gpu apart it is worth to tight the screws a little and check if it solve the problem.

Msi is gpp, the way they handled the rx5700 evoke line is why, also the reason AMD did not allocate any gpu dies to them this round.
