There are 2 bios

Hybrid, which i think "assumes" it is 4 core and tries to load it as such.....i can install this bios but booting with it leads to black screen. CMOS reset takes me back to the "original" bios.

"original" bios which includes ACC lists only 2 cores.

I am convinced there only 2 working cores on the chip despite what the code told me. There was never a guarantee of any unlocking and i bought the chip aware of that fact.

Its a cheap Minecraft build for a friends young daughter.........the cpu was £ 6.00 and the HD 6970 was £30.00, the ram cost me £10.00 and everything else came out of one of my boxes.

If her Dad chooses to spend £30.00 on a quad i will give him that option but as it is i think it is adequate for Minecraft and surfing and at the price i built it for i can afford to give it as a gift.

Like i said before, if it had unlockable cores it would have been a nice bonus.

Ivy Bridge i5 3570K @ 4.2 GHz ... needs 1.3 V for it ... and 150 mV less for 4.0 GHz, so I didn't even try further with my cooling setup

The Gigabyte board I did my core unlock on was the GA-880GA-UD3H rev2.1. I don't have the board anymore because the AMD 880G chipset started having stability issues, and the Phenom II 960T I swapped into my parents HP system so it's running as a quad core again.

i had that same board,

I had a Giga 970 too.

Both boards unlocked cores or cache and overclocked well.

4.2 Ghz steady on the i5 3570k

I'm actually thinking of pushing it a bit further, my current OC is a 'lazy' one, I'm quite sure I can lose some volts (and gain some frames).
