How is emulation nowadays?

Hey guys, I used to play hours on emulators some years ago, mostly latest Zelda/Nintendo games and some PS3 games as well.

It required a strong cpu and time tweaking to keep things going smoothly, still had some hiccups and stutters here and there... wasn`t perfect, but I remember it improved a lot when I upgraded to a 9900K.

I bet it is better optimized now, but how far can I get away with? does single core perf and higher clocks still the way to go? or having more cores also help? just as example: 12900 or 12600k for that application?

I am weighting my options for a new build, was thinking to go AM5 but motherboards are expensive still, as previous intel gens prices go down, was thinking to get elder or raptor lake w a cheap b660 or even h610 board... since I will play mostly emulators I believe a RX6600 class gpu should do it, any recommendations are welcome :)

If you disconsider what Nintendo have done to Yuzu/Ryunjix... Good. Performance wise, never been better

RPCS3 is only getting better and ShadPS4 is on the rise.

AMD Ryzen 5000 series is nice, same for Intel 12th gen, but anything with AVX512 support will be a hell lot better. GPU matters, but not that much, at least for RPCS3.

If you want maximum performance for emulation, get Ryzen 7000 or Intel 13th gen or newer. This website also features emulator performance on CPU reviews, give it a check.
