Yeah, I agree.... After seeing how many things newegg is bundling with this pos psu it's really just them preying on desperate gpu shoppers.

I honestly think this is a bad move that could end up burning them in the end no pun intended.

That goes a long way. I happen to REALLY like Gigabyte motherboards. I have had great success with them. But what really made me a loyal fan was when they RMA'd a dead 4-year old motherboard, no questions asked, even though it only had a 3-year old warranty.

Your mileage may vary. I had a completely different experience trying to RMA a Gigabyte motherboard. It was still in warranty coverage and the RMA was rejected because of a spec of dust. They returned the board to me with the refusal and a zoomed in picture of the dust mote (on the PCB, not even on traces). The board was close to spotless, they were doing some extreme nit picking. That said, I still like their products and am currently using one of their motherboards in my system now. I just hope I don't have to suffer thru similar crappy post-sale support from them again.

No doubt. But I am sure you can pick any company and find a customer who's unhappy with their customer support.

Denying an RMA due to a speck of dust (something that can be blown away with a quick puff of breath) does not make any sense. So I suspect they saw, or think they saw, something else that was not supposed to be there. Either way, if I felt I was being treated unfairly when I truly believed I was being 100% honest, then it is likely that company (or at least that division of that company) would quickly go on my sh!tlist too.

In fact, that's why I don't like or buy Corsair cases. I have had bad experiences with them in terms of inconsistent quality control and subsequent unsatisfactory customer support. I still like their RAM, however.

i like gig motherboards ive owned quite a few and i agree there not all problem free but id needed to be dropped on my head a few more times than once to even think about buying that PSU, its seasonic for me.

Hm.

Cant understand someone liking GB much. Ive seen how they design their motherboards, their GPUs, QC on their LCDs. Basically everything there screams "avoid at any cost". No amount of PR or friendliness towards customers can change that.
And they aren't even that friendly to their customers. Their customer service actually totally sucks.

They had good products a decade or more ago, and are just riding on the name from that time now.

Not to sure about that, even back to early 2k i had issue's with their boards, i always seen people be totally happy but never made me feel that way and the amount of complaints you see some times on here makes me want to have any kind of dealings with them.

It is important to avoid being biased. Declaring a entire brand as no good, when they make so many products, many of which are great, is allowing our biases to cloud our judgement. It is just the reverse of fanboyism. Not good.

Agree with that, sadly I see this happening a lot.

Personally I had zero issues my Gigabyte GPUs along with my bro and my friend who use them. 'not the crappiest/cheapest models mind you, I generally avoid those regardless of the brand'
Their software I'm not a fan of for sure but eh, not like I have to start it up more than once a month or so when I change my RGB static single color to another.

If someone wanted to pick a bad product and trash the entire brand then I'm not sure if there would be any brands left to buy from.
Same goes for shady practices and PR 'cough MSI', its not nice but if I cared that much then I could just stop buying stuff in general cause everyone does it to some degree or just don't get caught.

I think customers are far more likely to write bad reviews based on a problem with hardware or poor customer service. If they had a good experience then they would more or less be giving the hardware manufacturer free publicity. Hell, some positive reviews are written by employees of the hardware manufacturer. Amazon does what they can with the "verified purchase".

True, but not over 1,700 fake 5-star reviews. So it would appear there definitely were some bad samples out there, but most worked as advertised.

I think biases are clouding judgements here. Just because one or two brands may have top rated products, that does not mean the other brands are bad or destined to fail. Also, when a company produces many products, and some of those have less than stellar reputations, that does not automatically mean every product the company makes is less than stellar.

I don't care what the product is, or who makes it - I never put much faith in user reviews unless there are many that report the exact same problem with the exact same product. Happy users don't complain and many don't bother with reviews. And most reviewers don't come back after they have used the product for a while to write reviews, so we don’t learn how the product holds up over time - a critical factor, IMO. Also, users typically don't have comparable products to compare with for proper side-by-side (A-B) comparisons, nor do they have properly equipped testing facilities or the necessary technical training for a proper evaluation.

Often times you will see products down-rated because it was a different color than shown on Newegg, the Post Office delivered to the house next door, UPS delivered it a day late, or the box looked like it fell off the FedEx truck. So if I am considering a product, I read the user reviews but I don't put a lot of stock in them, UNLESS as stated above, there are several complaining about the EXACT SAME genuine fault/defect with the actual product.

As far as bad customer service - I have no reason to doubt other's claims that it is lousy. I can only say they have treated me well. But the truth is, I have rarely had to contact them and it has been awhile since I last did - yet we use Gigabyte motherboards in builds here all the time. We've just had no need to contact them. We also occasionally use Gigabyte graphics cards but more often lately MSI or stick with integrated. I have never used a Gigabyte PSU.

But I will reiterate what I said above, if I receive what I feel is lousy or unjust treatment "after the sale", that sure will affect my opinion of the company too. But my opinion of a company and my opinion of the products they make are two completely different things. Lousy tech support does not mean lousy products.
