Bought a replacement battery off ebay for my old 2012 Acer AO725 to extend its usage a bit further, and the manual that comes with it gave so many warnings about explosive danger. All the aftermarket batteries for my laptop on ebay had the same product pictures, so I assume they all had the same suppliers and I don't have that many options to choose from.
Was originally going to buy an OEM battery, then I realized the laptop was made in 2012, and it's not like the original manufacturer will continue making OEM batteries for a device they stopped production a long time ago. Would I really want to buy a "brand new" battery made in 2012? Battery expert told me those batteries won't be in their best condition even if they weren't used for 6 years.
But now that I have read the scary manual that mentioned explosions like 5 times, I am wondering if I made the wrong choice.
Who should I have bought batteries from? How should I test a new battery to see if I am safe from explosions or not?
