I'm thinking about getting 2 of these 140mm fans for my Cooler Master MasterBox MB520 : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32885401773.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.786f3311T0f2zF&algo_pvid=064f3441-5593-473a-a843-67ef336c0e72&algo_expid=064f3441-5593-473a-a843-67ef336c0e72-0&btsid=57f78e0a-e68c-4b95-839e-a46daa401c49&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4,searchweb201603_52
They have 3 pin + Molex so they are going to run at full speed (1100 RPM) do you guys have any idea about the loudness of these ?

Hi

Full Speed is 1500RPM +/- 10% Fan @29dBA = [*decibels measurement of sound] air flow is 45CFM = cubic feet per minute

Note: only when used with a fan/motherboard controller set to 1100RPM +/- 10% will it be @*24dBA and CFM will be reduced

At lower speeds these fans should be fine when seated inside a case.
supplementary note: with air cooling it is just about keeping positive air pressure / flow through the case

If attaching these direct to the motherboard they will operate at 1500RPM 29dBA

*If the motherboard has *PWM 3pin connectors [*Pulse Width Modulation] = Fan Speed Management in the Motherboard CMOS/Bios settings that would allow for the speed of the fans to be lowered at a set speed or **modulated from 0~1500RPM depending on system temperature. Note:**PWM Fans would be required for this functionality Example: Room temperature gets cooler = fan speed slows down / Room temperature goes up fan speed will speed up to compensate

@ oobymach good call I like the look of those.

Just looked at the case over at Cooler Master id we are discussing the Master Box MB520 it takes Three 120mm fans in the front of the case.

On the title it says Sleeve Bearing, but then in the specs it says Hydraulic Bearing....

then it says 3/4pin - I dont think even the seller knows what specs these fans are. If you order 4 you may get a mish mash of standard 3 pin and 4 pin pwm fans.

none are PWM fans but rather come with a 4 Pin molex connections, I would pass on them in general

depending what mobo you have, you can download software to control fans as well as set it up in bios. I am using MSI Command Center(control?) for my fan speeds with my B450 tomahawk and it works quite well. My only gripe with it is that after a restart I have to reload all my profiles, but my machine stays on pretty 24/7 anyways.

Hi, i just wanted to correct a few things said here.
A 3-pin fan connected to a motherboard is not a pwm controlled fan. You can, however, reduce it's speed via DC control, which means the motherboard will reduce the output voltage on the 3-pin connector, and that in turn will lower the fan rotational speed. Note that if your fan has led lights these will also feed from the same voltage and consequentially get darker as well.
If you want to be able to reduce your fan speed without affecting the leds, then you need pwm controlled fans, which come with a 4-pin (not molex!) connector and are managed by your motherboard via pwm control if it's supported

EDIT: I have a red led fan controlled by DC and i love the way the light comes to life when my computer it's doing work, feels like the beast is awakening lol

EDIT2: These 3-pin/molex fans are useful because they allow daisy-chain of several fans through molex (molex is both male and female). These can then be controlled by a single motherboard fan connector

So you assume that people on a tech forum that overclock cpus and gpuss, flash bioses and delid cpus don't know what pwm fans are???:roll::roll::roll: get outta here

Just get a set of these and be happy with the price and overjoyed with the performance and lack of cable clutter. If you want 3 pin fans I have about 30 laying around in the lab.
