I manage a couple before work, then 2-4 in the evening during the week. Weekends are somewhere between 5-12 a day, since I get up at 5 am, and usually crash between 10 and 11. Depends on the day's/weekend's agenda, weather, needs, trips, etc.

Now a days, I barely game. Maybe a average of 2-3 hours a week. There just isn't a game that interests me enough to feel the need for marathon gaming these days.

But back in my late 20'ties, early 30'ties, while I was playing Mechwarrior 4 and acting as one of the senior staff members for a gaming league for MW4 (MWL), I would play a minimum of 8 hours a day, every weekday. I played even more on weekends. Saturday's were normally all morning and into the afternoon playing, and Sundays I was usually either playing or admin'ing league matches literally all day. This was all while working a full time job also.

my struggle is finding games i like, that arent purely MP. I can throw dozens, hundreds of hours into games like skyrim and fallout 4 - or even starcraft II's campaign.

But sooner or later i run out of content and it's just not as fun to replay things you've already done. I think thats age setting in, where the games get too predictable and you can easily adjust your playstyle to win, once you're fore-armed with the knowledge of whats going to happen.

AMD's game app says.... more hours than there are in a week?!

No real surprise. Black Desert Online encourages you to be signed in, so even if I'm not actively playing the game it's up as much as possible. It has a tray-minimized option so that you can play other games/web/etc while it is running. So jumping into Civ 5 or Fallout 4 increases my total the total even more...

my play style (for SP games) was always about reverse engineering the map designers thinking. Probably easier back when games were simpler.

Games like fallout 4, you can genuinely tell apart the level designers - they each leave their telltale clues (one of them loves hiding things in toilets, one has a fetish for teddy bears, one loves hiding 'tragic stories' like two adult corpses who suicided... and then sneaking in a more hidden childrens grave nearby, then you realise the parents died holding onto kids toys). Once you start spotting the clues as to which designer made the area, you can hunt around for their preferred way of sneaking secrets in.

Games like starcraft II, even on brutal they always wanted to 'encourage' you to learn something. One strategy, one unit combination, one build style - always one was left 'strong' against the enemy due to game balance. It was merely finding which one, and on later, harder levels combining one or two of those.

Then theres modern gaming which is all "fuck effort, go fight an army of identical angry teenagers. Oh the people who play the most get buffed more"

Wish I had as much time as you guys for gaming. It's a "good" gaming weak if I am able to squeeze in 3-5 hours of gaming. Some weeks my gaming time equals zero.
Our eldest is 4, and when he turns 6 or 7 I'll introduce him to video games - but my plan is to start with the sort of games that I grew up with, e.g. LucasArts Adventure Games, C&C, Magic Carpet, etc.. Then slowly start working towards newer titles. I don't want him to take nowadays graphics for granted and show him how back in the days focus laid on gameplay.

i think i played quake when i was 5, and that genuinely gave me nightmares and anxiety. i had to play MP against my brother without any of the monsters to get over my fear of 'horror' FPS games, hated em for years.

There was a time ,when I was unemployed or I had a part time job, when I was gaming between 8-12 hours/day. Most of the time I was playing CoD MW online or Stalker SP.
Now that I am all grown up and working full time I have to resume to 2-4 hours/day during the week and 7-10 hours/day in the weekend when I am playing MP games (BF4,Overwatch,WoT,The Division and so on) with my friends and at the same time talking on Skype :D

My nephew (12) will come to stay a weekend with me ,(probably near end of this year)
I know he likes GTA a lot (plays a lot GTA SA) but since I want to be able to use my computer myself.
I still do have a gaming laptop but I can only game on one steam account one machine at the same time so I won't use my laptop at all when he's here.
I will connect the CDi player that I still have, to my second monitor (1080p tv) and let him play with that, has no internet and he cannot mess up anything.:D

more than a few times, i did it coop in Gmod with friends (for the levels that worked) later on as well. With the exception of the very on rails early levels, there was a decent amount to explore and re-do in that.

The most i hit and that was calculated by Steam was 57 hours.
I'm back out of work right now and over 2 weeks not even hit 50 hours, i am sat at 47 hours.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/maikaru/

If i were to take into account that sometimes i play console games on emulators and that's not tracked it would total around 52 hours in 2 weeks.

Oh I recognize this so much - gaming has become much more rational to me, it's more difficult to really immerse into a game I've already played. Ten years back I could easily re-play anything for hours, doing the same mundane shit I'd already done so often.

I want my naive and silly kid's brain back!

heres a comparison:

Jagged Alliance (old ones) vs the new Xcom games.
Very similar game style, JA2 had 'real time' out of combat with turn based combat.

It feels like the new Xcom games have 1/1000th the actual maps (hello random map gen in latest one, that still feels the same) and every mission is designed around the idea of 'rush or fail'. There is no freedom to explore the maps, no benefit to take your time and play it properly. Purely 'do it faster so you dont pay attention, enjoy this artificial tension!'

I average around 20 per week. But I can go a few weeks without gaming followed up with 40 hours in one week. It depends on life.

I'm on the low end of the spectrum here. Steam says 6.1hrs in the last 2 weeks...pretty sure that's all since Bioshock Remastered was released. At times, that number is much higher; at other times it's almost nil.

I'm playing 10-20H a week on PC, now if I add my mobile gaming it's more, probably 20-30H or even more. Games I play atm: GTA-O, Payday 2, Need for Speed No Limits (mobile).

btw. I'm so 1337 ;)

I average about 1.5 hours a night. Use to play a lot longer but got married and had a son who is now 3. I do not start playing until the wife goes to bed. This way she does not complain:)

Oh, the wives...

My wife just came to bring me to bed and interrupted my Bioshock experience on the pretense of, "it's late, we need to go to bed," only for me to find her here still on her phone, as usual. Sure makes perfect sense, moved from my PC to phone, from my chair to my bed...

Usually I don't start gaming til after my kids are in bed. If I game when they're up and around, they want to sit with me and watch me play, and I don't always want them watching some of the games. Happened a day or 2 ago when I clobbered a splicer in the head with a wrench in Bioshock, and my wife didn't like that at all. Neither did I really
