We all know someone who died of cancer or something equally cruel, crunching can help find a cure quicker.
The process borrows your cpu power when you allow it to.
Rather than your expensive cpu doing nothing it is actually doing mathematical computations which may ....no will save lives

F@H is awesome ! TPU < linky} It will run thru your GPU and since your water cooled it's perferct for you !

The 7850 @Norton fix'd me up with run's super cool, avg. 98% Load 45-50C, 20/7[gott have some play time LOL]

Crunching using boinc also helps find cures diseases. It uses your cpu instead of your gpu.

Folding is restricted to the medical fields, Crunching helps all Science fields including Astronomy, Medicine, Earth Sciences etc.
Personally I Crunch and select the fields I assist, mainly Astronomy.
My systems are running 24/7 as I also mine at home.

That depends on the Projects selected, most are CPU dependant but a GPU will work through work units quicker.

Always on if I'm home, which is roughly 8-12 hours a day including sleeping time.
Electricity cost is not a problem for me, but I still feel wasteful to run it 24h.
