um.. unlimited actually, the reason you're having problems is because the question is not how much windows can handle, but more or less how much can you cpu handle

Yeah, its not windows that is limiting you.....

IF you had a processor that went to 8 GHZ, windows would in theory work without a problem.

It is your CPU that is limiting you

Your processor is clocked so high it is unstable, this creates large amounts of errors for windows to handle and correct, hence the high processor load. try lowering your cpu clock and stress testing with orthos.

(and i wanted to break the 4.0 border so badly ) ;)

most of the times when it fails it won't boot or crash during torture testing, thats why i got this idea

that means your cpu is way past its limits with heat and many other factors...

lol, trust me, that temperature is wrong!

a Pentium D @ 4ghz, 1.5v will generate 160-180 watts of heat!

Trust me, they're hot! I had an 805 clocked to 4.2ghz on my high-end watercooling, and i couldn't keep it below 60c load.

oh you this reminds me of me so much! dude! if it's stable at 3.9ghz leave it there! i was trying to hit 4.4 but i could only get 4.3 so i cried about it but finally gave up! so if your getting 3.9 leave it alone! as most say "if it's not broke, DON'T FIX IT"

Buy some liquid nitrogen, give it 2 volts, overvolt northbridge, voila 5GHz :p
But seriously now. 3.9 seems to be your max OC, so I would drop it to 3.85
