I went with "Twice as fast" since it say's "Current Platform":ohwell:
Since I'm still on my {spec's} 2011/12 rig the 2600K and DZ68BC with that awesome Samsung Wonder Ram it has evolved from the XFX5870 XXX card to the 7950 "Kreigabyte" then a couple years ago got a used EVGA TitanSC, and just last month the MSI 980Ti from forum member rtwjunkie.
This card O/C very nicely to 1400/2000 and I didn't even try to go anymore. Not sure how much it can increase, but it seems just fine with a cool and quiet fan curve. All the while it still resides inside a executive closed cabinet Hutch desk from the 90's.
Indeed it has made for an awesome experience with 1440p @60. :toast:

Back on Z77 3570k I started with a GTX 670 and went up to a 970. Roughly 50% upgrade back then. That 970 was a beast with 1550Mhz on stock voltage.
Then came Z170 with said 970 which got replaced by a GTX 1080. That thing was also an OC dream at 2063Mhz all day. That got upgraded to a 1080 Ti three times because two defective ones. The final EVGA one ran 2025Mhz on the core and 6300Mhz memory. So also an OC champ.
One more platform change to Z390 and so came the upgrade to the 2080 Ti that is on the midiocre OC range.
Now I have a secondary system with X570, 3900x and a 2070 Super that is the mother of bad overclockers. Not even 30Mhz offset on the core and barely 700Mhz on the VRAM. Ugh... however that system currently has the 2080 Ti as my Z390 board died.

So yeah, I had a few upgrades

Why it feels like everyone got 980 Ti after I got one. :)

I started with the GTX 460 and after it died I got a GTX 1060 6G. So my GPU got roughly 4x faster. I didn't have to upgrade the CPU.

I hardly ever had a dying GPU but I did upgrade mostly from time to time but never to the newest / best / most expensive graphics card, never really necessary and I could always play at high to ultra graphics in most cases.

My current system is a lil over 2 years old which makes it my oldest system since the 90's.
I'm pretty sure I pick the worst times to buy a GFX...HD2900, HD6950, R9-280 for the same price as the R9-280x which came out 10 days later...I needed a better GPU than my 1060 and got my current GPU and the rest of my system in the Height of the Crypto craze....
Unfortunately prices did not ever really recover from the Crypto craze/ they realized people would still pay so every class of card got upgraded to the price of cards one level above their performance.

I'm having a really hard time not buying a 2070s.. And a monitor that fits it better...
I don't really care about RTX but I do because the game I play most has it... And it's new... But the 2070s is only like 20% better and I really don't wanna spend more than $500 for a GFX.

Wait until I upgrade my HTPC ;)

GT 1030 is surprisingly fast but you can't never have too much horsepower... GTX 1060 or something should be nice..

I'm not sure how to answer the poll. On this platform I started with a GTX1070, then went down to a GTX1060, then back up to a GTX1080Ti.

I went from GTX 780 Ti (reference), to GTX 1080 FE in 2018 (also as a side note, I had i7 3820 originally and I upgraded to 4960X before GPU change, after that I ended with 1680 v2 ;)).

From GPU perspective, that's pretty much 2x performance but usually more, and so far there is no card for me to upgrade to. I want at least a Titan V performance on my next main card.
I might have to re-evaluate this plan, if NV/AMD don't create something of that level at more reasonable price level though.
