Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I got lucky and paid 100 more for my RT 6800 and than prices went trough the roof now its like I saved 900 bucks should sell my xfx 5600 xt for a profit but I have to live with my self but it only spent a month in my rig. looking today you can't find a gt 710 in store
I'm actually tempted to stain my own conscience and start mining on the hardware I have sitting around here. I could be earning $30 a day and all I have to do is needlessly waste energy.

Much like people do when working.
There's not much of an outcry about industry wasting power to make money.

I've been on "XFX RX 470 D5 DD BP 8Gb" for five years and in five years from now I'll be just as broke, and will probably still have this GPU, so, I probably wouldn't.

the current UK ebay price for a 3080 card is about £1800.. it seem to have settled around this figure..

a 3070 or 3060ti is around £1100.. enough people are prepared to pay these prices to soak up available supply..

at least the gpu ebay gpu price seems to have stopped going up.. a 3080 price did go as high as £1900..

what happens in the future is an unknown.. it is pretty well connected to what a particular gpu will earn mining etherium.. currently a 3080 will make about $10 to $12 per day or about $75 dollars per week.. a 3060ti a bit more than half that..

the future.. if etheruim profits go up so will the price of the things needed to mine it.. if the crypto market crashes there will be a plethora of cheap graphics cards on the market.. i dont think it will crash for quite some time but that is just my oppinion..

Americans may never understand this, but paying over MSRP is like the normal thing in Asian countries, especially for high end graphic cards.
I mean, even before this price inflation happened, >US$900 and $1700 is the normal price for the cheapest Zotac 3080 and 3090.

What's MSRP? We know no MSRP.
us prices for said cards are $930 and $2050, PLUS sales tax. if i were to buy a zotac rtx 3090 trinity right now, it would cost me $2230

but, again, to my earlier point, when people outside the US talk "MSRP", they are always quoting prices WITH sales tax rolled in. in the US, sales tax is added ON TOP of the "MSRP". US has 50 states, 5 protectorates, and more than 1000 taxing jurisdictions, each with it's own sales tax rate. that's why in the US prices are never quoted with tax.

there really is a massive under supply situation.. ebay is the only true price discovery mechanism.. ebay tells a true story.. there are enough miners prepared to pay the high price for the relatively tiny supply of products enter the market hence the silly high price.. miners are not the cause of the problem the real cause is massive under supply..

People still wont give up on this nonsense I see.

OK, if there are so few cards being manufactured then how is it that Nvidia for example announced record gaming revenues ? Where does all of this money come from if not from huge volumes of cards being manufactured and sold ?

Miners are the cause, there's lots of supply being pumped out and a massive mining GPU demand.
Notice how this only happens when the Crypto market goes through a Bullrun? This ain't an issue with supply, it's an issue with demand via miners and desperate gamers that seem to pay anything just to have a GPU.

this time is very different from last time.. gpu prices went up last time but not like this time.. this time its a combination of extra mining demand plus pandemic induced supply chain problems..

last time i built an 8 x 1070 gpu mining machine.. i paid a tad over normal prices for some of them but not much.. this time to do the same thing i would be paying 150% over normal and buying the needed cards in dribs and drabs from ebay..

this time is very very different from last time.. to be honest i would love to replace my eight 1070 cards with some 3060TI cards but at over a grand a piece no f-cking way..

i just read an asus article saying that production/supply is gonna drop by 10% or so over the next quarter.. the entire PC industry has supply chain problems..

its nice and handy to blame miners but they are not the true cause of the problem..

Fair enough with regards to Covid-19. And to add BTC hit over $60K this time around. Previous time it hit $20K. That's 3X the increase and 3X the excitement. There's Loads more miners this time and that many more buying up all kinds of GPUs.

Fair enough with regards to Covid-19. And to add BTC hit over $60K this time around. Previous time it hit $20K. That's 3X the increase and 3X the excitement. There's Loads more miners this time and that many more buying up all kinds of GPUs.

there are less small time gpu miners this time around for the simple fact the hardware is pretty much unobtainable.. in some ways this suits me because the more eth miners there are the less the profits per miner..

small scale gpu miners mine etherium the price of bitcoin dosnt really come into it.. it makes news but thats about all..

there are 8 x 3060 tI mining machines on ebay for £11500 and 6 X 3080 machines for £15000.. are they worth it.. the people selling them seem to think they are..

miners boost the price but dont really effect the lack of supply.. the lack of supply is the root cause of the problem..

never spent more than $300 on a GPU, never will.

I think I'll survive with Ellesmere until the end of time at this point.

Joke aside, I'm not willing to spend a lot of money, so I'll probably sit at the equivalent of sub-300 USD of whenever I decide to buy a new GPU.

Miner's are looking at the equation differently than Gamers...that's all. There just happens to be good efficiency in the 3000 series, and some AMD gpus (VII/5700XT). There also happens to be dog shit supply compared to demand.

This situation gets solved in a few ways.

Mining on GPUs becomes less profitable.
1. Ethereum's moving away from a Proof of Work basis to Proof of Stake, which likely will make Ethereum mining not nearly as profitable as it right now. This transition has already started and is expected to complete later this year( I think July), if not be start of next year.

Supply Increases and/or alternatives increase.
2. Intel's looking to break into the market, if the margins are there and AMD/Nvidia don't get there shit together the market will become too tempting for others to pass up.
3. With a Covid Vaccine out, people will likely have alternatives by the end of 2021 for entertainment. So potentially less urgent demand for these products.

This is going to be an un-popular opinion here, let's look at mining in general and how it changes the value of a GPU drastically(given only todays market);

1. A 3090 can make you 12$/day, a 3080 can make about 8-9, a 3070, ~4-5. So if you can get your hands on cheap electricity, and an MSRP GPU, it will pay for itself within 3-6 months.
2. Mining on a GPU allows you to write off (atleast in the US), both the electricity and cost of the initial purchase in the first year. So while I may have over paid for a GPU now(maybe I got lucky and got one for MSRP), I can now deduct that GPU's cost from any tax liability I'll incur from mining.

So the thing I bought now is a tax deduction and potentially profitable inside 6 months.

Here's my cost breakdown of my mining farm and the investment I have made if you would like to see how I am calculating all this.

My central goal is... I want a way to buy new high-end GPUs, have them pay for themselves so I can upgrade 5 different rigs in my house by late 2021. I don't intend to mine past that as I am expecting profitability to tank eventually sometime in July/August.

There is no doubt that Nvidia is having more supply. Their sales are up 61% last year over the previous year according to their Annual Report. If you can't find the 3xxx in stores then where are they all going? I think the miners are hoarding them while crypto-currency is so profitable.

I bought TWO 3090 FTW3 at MSRP. I wouldn't spend a penny more.

$1955 with tax.

I sold my 2080Ti and my 3080 and hit both systems with that 3090 POWAH!!!
