How much power do you save running SSD's vs. HDD

For example, if you have a 2TiB HDD and a 2 TiB SSD how much less power does the SSD take to operate overall? Half? Or more?

Interesting question - A friend of mine said that the battery life on his laptop improved noticeably when he switched to an SSD (and ran cooler).
but a quick look on scan's website was surprising - a 2GB SSD was listed at 3W, while a 2.5" laptop HDD was listed at 1.5W, and a 3GB 3.5" HDD was listed as 3.7W - though a lot of the HDDs didn't have a power rating listed.

in a laptop its worthwhile because it can save power
but in a desktop its such a tiny amount you wont notice
