How much should I sell the following parts to my good friend for? These are in my rig right now and are going to be used for upgrading his ancient Athlon 1GHz PC.

CPU: Intel E8500 o/c 4.11GHz since day one and running rock solid to this day :rockout:
Cooler: Zalman CNPS 8700 flower heatpipe cooler. (This is virtually new. Bought it ages ago, but just started using it about a week ago to replace the old worn out one)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3
RAM 4GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-9200 Flex II (Basically, they're really fast and high-end)

Unlike flogging stuff on eBay, I want to sell these at a fair price to him. I live in the UK, so no dollars or euros please!

EDIT: I have the boxes for everything and it's all in mint condition.

If you were nice, £110 for the lot. And that's mates rates.
You could get £150 on the bay I reckon.

Bloody hell, I had a price of £200 in mind and thought that was good!

Mind you, I'll be fitting it for him, installing Win7 Ultimate (from my TechNet sub) and supporting it, so a small premium like that is well justified. If I was charging commercial rates for this service, it would be more like £200-£300 for the time to do it. My friend is comfortably computer illiterate.

Like it!!

I'm going by no box and accessories, etc. I'm sure you could rip the arse out of it and sell on the bay as an "8.22GHz CPU" and with "RAM made for liquid cooling".
And yea, you could tell your mate that your "Limited Lifetime Warranty" doesn't come cheap

Top end prices if you where to part?
£80 for the proc
£50 mobo
£50 Ram
£15 Cooler?

I think £110 is a bit of a lowball, yes its old tech, though for someone with a 775 setup the E8500 would still be a good upgrade from a lot of lower end duals/single cores and £80 isn't too far fetched. Same for the ram, its high clocked ddr2 and still retails (where you can find it) for £100.

Just cause 775 is no longer doesn't mean 775/ddr2 are worth peanuts, infact some people will still pay silly money for older hardware cause its still cheaper than a full system refresh.

Yeah I would be selling that CPU at a nice discount. Overclocking a component depreciates it's value by a lot over time.

That's overclocked by about one Gigahertz :)

Oh yeah, baby. :D and it runs at round 42C with all the power saving features off when idling on the desktop.

When I originally got it, I tried to see how fast it would go and I actually ran it at 4.8GHz for a few minutes - incredible.

However, the Zalman 7700 I had on it at the time wasn't enough to keep the temps down and that was running flat out.

I reckon a hardcore overclocking enthusiast could get it over 5GHz using water cooling.

I know, I see you don't pick up sarcasm that well. If I was selling it privately/on ebay I wouldn't advertise the fact it had been overclocked. So no, no it hasn't been overclocked ;);) lol

Quite.

But I'm selling to my friend who knows about this overclock anyway and I'm pretty honest with my friends. I would disclose it if there were any faults with stuff I'm selling him and these components all work perfectly.

Sometimes it can be a little harder picking up sarcasm through text. I will have to admit though, that emote gave it away xD
