I have a 4TB with a dram cache and performance dropped hard when it filled after reinstalling games. A quick TRIM and everything was good again. Why did I never think of that? How many times I told my parents to leave a portion of their SSD empty! How much headache this could have saved me!
I'd be too lazy to bother with a file copy in the background. I'd just let it do its thing. If it takes X hours, it takes X hours, who cares?
But to be fair, this is why I'd never buy a cacheless QLC drive.
