how often do you upgrade your gpu?

personally ive had a few card but what i can remember was a mx440 - ati x800 pro? - ati x850xt - 8800gts 640 - and recently about a month ago got a 4890, i had the 8800 for about 2 years but havent noticed a HUGE change, but in some games its a beast compared. I felt it was the right time to upgrade as it was/ and still is the top line card form ati for only 150quid

Really nice clocks on those cards ! Zotac makes some quality stuff and I think if one buys from them and registers the card on line, they up their warranty to a Lifetime-Limited. Hang on to those babies.....

....even with all the new stuff on the horizon, I would think your still good for a bit.

i have to say that i upgrade no more than 2 years, so its usually a year to 2 years unless its a killer deal or something to the exception like that

i like to get a bit of value so i buy a card that will do me a long time but one that is moderately cheapo

i never go from like a gtx260 to a gtx275 just seems pointless for me

like i had a 8800gt and then i got the gtx260 before that i had a lol x800gto

i agree with ya it went nvidia 6800, then ati hd 2600xt then my 4850. I think mostly of when people go from a hd 4850 to a 5870 then 4890 then 4890x2. Its like they must have every single card ever made

+1 on you two - I went from an 8800GT to my 260, and I wont upgrade unless its within a reasonable price bracket and a hefty performance increase.

I upgrade every 12 months though i really shouldn't. I should get around to selling my old cards too - got an x850xt, x1950xtx crossfire ed. card and a 3870x2 lying around in my room atm (i'm just too lazy to sell em atm :shadedshu).

Well, when I went for lower mid-range cards or older-gen hi-end cards I would feel the need to upgrade about every 6 months or so...but since I got my GTX260 last summer, I've yet to feel the need to upgrade since everything I play runs excellent at 1920x1080. TBH I can't believe I haven't replaced it, but budget, other priorities, and well still kickass gaming performance keep the GTX locked in my rig. I'm gonna stick with it till it doesn't do the job anymore...could be another couple months, could be 6 months, could be another year or more...who knows. The next gen DX11 stuff, meh...it's 1st gen, I didn't go 1st gen dx9 or 10, and don't plan to yet...I'll wait till DX11 is an actual selling point with enough titles to justify it, and when a 2nd gen mid-range 9600GT equaled the performance of an 8800GTS320 of 1st gen, I feel 2nd gen DX11 stuff will be worth it...though if my GTX doesn't hold up that long, I could go with the best ATI or NV option in my price range. Hard saying what'll happen till it happens, but at this point in time I see no need and have no major excitement for DX11 yet...I hope it succeeds and sounds like it will, but I'll pass on hype and wait to see what actually happens.
