How reliable IBT Gflops measurement?

Version 2.54 only.

Alright, so this software has been around for quite some yrs already but how reliable & thus accurate is it really in measuring Gigaflops performance with today's CPUs?

By today's CPUs, I'm referencing architectures like Zen+ for example.

Thoughts, opinions??

Its based on Intel's Linpak binary with a easy to use GUI that supposedly Intel uses as a stress test. The version you download from Intel is run through the command prompt. The last version of IBT uses AVX.

IBT 2.54 uses modified and outdated Linpack binaries. Therefore, it is 'somehow reliable' as a benchmark and must be used with the same problem (memory) size.

Interesting, considering the author of that software... "Agent God" has not been updating it since few yrs already.

Yeah it's better for intel processors... it's very reliable when comparing the same arch (i.e. sandy vs ivy vs haswell vs coffee) to each other, I just wouldnt use it for an intel vs AMD style comparison.

Linpack is great for a torture/heat stress test on Intel.

If you can survive a night on Linpack, you won't hit thermal limits and can consider your OC very stable. Been like that for years. Other than that... it doesn't tell you a whole lot.

It's mostly useful for a stability test... though others exist that run in much the same way (OCCT, LinX). I wouldn't use it to gauge performance, though.
