How to Change PCI ID or edit Vbios? 1BA1/1BE1 1070 MXM

Hello guys,
I have a GT72VR 6RE with G-sync MSI Laptop. Sadly the GPU is partially dead (artefacts all over the screen, crashes, windows detecting a damaged hardware etc...).

So I bought an other GTX1070 MXM on ebay, which was used in a Vorter G65 6RE before.
Sadly, when I plug the new GPU in the laptop, the laptop screen stays completly off, but i can use the HDMI port. So i though that I would just have to flash the vbios to the one I was using on the GPU that died, but I couldn't because of a mismatch betwen the PCI Device ID.
The new GPU ID is : 10DE 1BA1 - 1462 11AF and the previous GPU ID was :10DE 1BE1 - 1462 11AF
Pretty close right? but the A1 and E1 variation are fcking everything up. I've read that 1BA1 is for non G-sync and 1BE1 is for G-sync. I've also read that the G-sync variation is not part of the card but is an external part no on the GPU board.

So now I'm wondering what can I do : is there a way to force the vbios flash or to change the PCI ID ? I really need some help here. I'm no expert and I've try as much as I could. Maybe I need to do some vbios editing but I don't really know how to do it and what to do exactly to make this work.

Thank you very much for your help guys

You'll need a HW flasher for pascal MXM cards. The Vortex cards are don't output to the internal display as theyre meant for a desktop.

Could you tell me a little bit more about how should I proceed ?

Mmh I see... is it something easy to do for a private user ? where can i find or to who should i ask to do such thing ? And if I get an hardwar flasher, simply changing the PCI ID and then installing the right vbios would do the trick ?

Get on the world wide web, download a hex editor and look for how to modify the maxwell mxm bios and get a spi flasher, back up your bios using gpu-z too.

This is pascal, not maxwell. The VBIOS is encrypted.

You'd need a HW Flasher, to my knowledge, to flash the correct VBIOS to the card. I think you can try NVFlash but I'm not entirely sure, maybe with forced flags?

I'm no expert but I've tried different command to force it but none of them worked, even with tweaked NVflash versions that ignore some missmatching. Which flags would you use?

Hi guys!

I have a partial solution.

- Installe the GT62VR 6RE Non-Gsync Vbios (find it here : https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GT62VR-6RE-Dominator-Pro#down-firmware)
-Download Nvidia 375.50 Driver (newer version return error 43 so you won't be able to update after)
-Mod the nvmii file (check how to here : https://null-src.com/posts/nvidia-notebook-driver-inf-mod/post.php)
-restart window with no driver check (restart + hold shift => F7)
-Install Modded driver
=> working!

The only pb is you cant update drivers but the card work fine, and you cant have G-sync.

I have no interest in this topic but I really appreciate that you took the time to post the solution.
