if you have NV or AMD chip you should use HALMod v0.9.

This is a clean install. A while ago I updated my Bios to the latest version, but it eventually caused problems detecting my second video card in Windows so I reverted one back.

I've tried the modded driver, doesn't work. Here's a screenshot from my motherboard's manual with the slots I'm using circled.

Here's a link to the manual pdf if you want to refer to it.

Going to try the Halmod you linked now.

Thanks Guys 4 this wonderfull thread ,,
I am sory i can't read all pages so i have some questions :

Can i do all the steps with only one card or can i make sure that SLI is ready to work without pluging in a second vga card ?

IF i don't have the SLI bridge can i connect the 2 cards to mobo temporarly just to enable SLI ?

Will 8800GS's @ 840/1900/1050 be limited if I put them in SLI on a P35 motherboard with 1 slot @ 16X and the other slot @4X

thinking about picking up another GS if it won't be

Wouldn't be too too bad. Would be like running 3850's in crossfire on the same board.

Random......

the nVidia driver set/ control panel must have a condition at code level to show or hide the SLI setting. How is this asserted and is this explicitly dealt with in the mod tools we have? or are the guys working on this solely fooling the system into meeting the conditions?

Is the code necessary for SLI options_enable (or whatever) obtainable once the drivers are installed?

What are all these improvements and new versions to SLIStringInstaller and HALMod doing exactly? Is there a changelog? Will we ever be at a final version?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious :toast:

Its a good question.

Without going into too much detail it would be nice to know what each version is doing and again i think a simple "how-to" would be a great idea and would save having to repeat posts throughout the thread.

I'm no guru but from what i understand, you can run without the Sli bridge these days without to much of a hit in performance and for sure you should be fine to run without to enable Sli.

So thats mean i must have at least 2 cards even w/o bridge to enable SLI , right !
