How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Hi guys, I just registered to say a HUGE "THANK YOU" to Anatolymik and other guys (Sveetsnelda, HertZ and TiN) for making this awesome patch and for keep up with the good and hard work in order to help us have better systems...

Ps: I might be getting a 2nd gtx460 next week, will try this patch and let you know how it went.

Well, darn, something about the 260.63 driver doesn't agree with XP64 I guess. Dead Rising 2 was using both gpus at full usage, but it turns out I get double the fps with one gpu. So I tried L4D2 and it ran at full sli speed, but locked up after 5 minutes or so. Guess I'll reinstall my Win7 64 install and try it with that.

what "locked up" means?

he means the system froze, couldnt do anything and probally had to do a hard reset

i would get rid of XP 64 anyway john, its a dead OS, that had 64 bit instructions added as an after thought, it was never very stable, you would be better with win server 2003, the OS that win XP64 was built on

This one specific is cfirex 16x+4x only. You see anything that wouldn't get it to work?

if the PCI-E x4 is connected to the SB... that would most probably not work

tried the new 260.89 with F1 2010 and cod mw2 20 mins each and seem stable so far

Did a full reinstall of XP64, used the 260.89 beta, everything seems to be working really good now. DR2 is running at full sli speed now, no more crashes so far. Not sure what I did wrong the first time, but think I fixed it. And XP64 is newer than Server 2003, it's Server 2003 x64 SP1, but minus the server junk.
Edit: yep, it's stable now!

ok i am going to test with the new 260.89 beta drivers and the revised 0.9beta sli patch,

so is this correct,

instal win 7 64bit
instal 260.89 drivers / reboot
instal 0.9beta SLI patch / reboot
enable SLI in control panel.

is that all i do now?
