I keep getting system crashes and have seen a few references to flashing the GPU BIOS as a solution. How do I do this without a floppy disk?

I had to look around the web for a while before I found out how to make my SD card bootable. I had to find a copy of HPFlash and then elsewhere I found Win98/WinME DOS system files and used those. It works great, now my camera SD card doubles as a boot floppy for flashing and memtesting and whatever else I'll do with it in the future.

thanks all. i'll try that if i don't get anywhere with a solution someone suggested to underclock the factory settings on the GPU. just taken it down to 600 from 675. so will see if that does anything and if not it looks like flashing the bios or an RMA. thanks all for your help

Blackhood15 I don't think the problem will be fixed by underclocking.
The Toxic is very powerful and can handle the speed. If anything it may need more voltage. I've been able to get it to perform extremely well by adjusting the PCI bus in the Bios.

thanks. I didn't get any luck with lowering the clock yesterday. what setting do you suggest on the PCI bus?

The problem is the fan on the HD4850 Toxic. No fan control. It doesn't spin fast enough to cool down the card.

Yes,but you can flash it back to the original in case you want to rma the card.
Btw i flash my ati cards with ati winfash ,is very easy chech the tutorial.
