Hello!

I have a HP Probook 4530s and some months ago i got the first message to replace the battery.

I replaced it with a new original hp battery and i thought that now that i have 2 batteries i should treat them with care.

So I labeled them, and I am using the old one inside the house, when i have it connected to the charger and the new one outdoors.

Lately, the old one reached its end, it wont last even 2 mins on its own, the time i need to switch power outlets when i move from my office to the living room and vice versa!

I decided to replace some or all of the cells that are inside the old one, having two batteries really helped.

My main problem is how to open up the old one. It hasn't any screws so I'm guessing that it has clips.

I've seen some guides online and most of them have ruined their battery housing.

Is there a way not to ruin it?

FYI, the laptop battery code is hp 633805-001.

Thanks!

Can be... also, virtually all rechargeable battery packs are meant NOT to be serviced. I replaced NiMH batteries for a Makita cordless drill pack. Had to use a dremel to open the case, got everything replaced and found it worked for about two charges, on the third charge one of the batteries started to overheat and smoke. I checked and there were no shorts, about $20 in batteries down the drain. Gave up and bought an aftermarket pack on Amazon.

Ahh.....

And our CPUs aren't meant to be overclocked, but we overclock them, and our VGAs aren't meant to be voltmoded but we do voltmod them...

Get over it and focus on the subject.

You are a fool if you think overclocking a cpu and opening a battery are comparable.

Focusing on the subject...... you got your answer. They are not meant to be opened.

Is there a way not to ruin it?

Don't open it.

CPU's and videocards don't typically catch on fire/explode if you mess up. Nor are they filled with hazardous acid.

If you're going to replace all of the cells anyways, why not just buy a new battery and save yourself the trouble/risk/effort of using some other cheaper/knockoff cells?

I won't replace all the cells. My priority is to replace the two cells that report 11mV (the others report 3600 and those in the new battery ~3900).

Who talked about cheap cells ???

Point made? There are more fire shots to back this up. Don't mess with them, is it worth your safety, that of you family, possessions? Buy another battery, recycle the bad one you have.
