How to Record from VIVO card.

I have recently got my Asus VIVO x800 pro card and am trying to do something with its vivo features.
At the moment im finding it next to useless as ATI Multimedia centre seems to be only for ATI BBA cards so cant use that TV prog just instantly crashes.

Also the provided PowerDirector 3 seems abit crappy as its always dropping frames so the recorded mpeg looks jerky and crap. Is there any decent software for recording from this card ? I assumed the Rage Theatre 200 processor was a hardware mpeg 2 encoder to some degree to practicaly eliminate dropped frames.

Also strangly, I can only seem to get a black n white image on my tv through my Svideo to scart cable connected to the vivo cable. It is color when the scart is connected direct to card.

If it makes a difference, my pc is based on An Abit NF7 with AthlonXP 3200 and ddr 400 dual channel.

Im using catalyst 4.11 and mcc 9.03 (although it dont seem to do alot)

Hi Matt... I had a ASUS 9800XT that did like the ATI drivers either, uninstall those and try the ASUS drivers from their web site. Also there was a hot fix for Directx 9 and the KVtune file was updated, check on Microsofts page for it. As for the output to the TV I didn't get a good picture with the S-video connector and used the 3 analog plugs ...

what might be of great help is if someone / somewhere could setup on bittorent a copy of the Official ATI driver cd with multimedia centre on it. Hopefully then the dvd decoder would work and maybe the rest of the prog. its really quite silly that ati partners cards dont get the same software as the Built by ATIcards which cant easily be baught over here in uk.Doesnt help atis image to much either

Thx for the link, ill try it when i get home from work .. i think I saw that file, but never seen WinXP refured to as embeded, so didnt think it was for winxp pro that I use.

Theres was nothing on the asus driver cd todo with capturing, just a few apps like power director which i think is crap, shouldnt be dropping frames like it does. even my ancient All In Wonder Original on my celeron 350 didnt drop frames like this prog does. I was hopeing the Ati multimedia centre would show the true power of the theatre 200 processor.

I posted the link to show you the updated files to DX9 and help you find a cause. I did recieve a capture program with my 9800xt, when I get home I'll look on my system. I did find something interesting on ASUS web site ... for their Enhanced drivers ...

This ASUS Enhanced Driver is made for ASUS special features such as Smart Doctor, OSD, Game Face and Hyper Drive. If you wish to run these ASUS features, you have to install "ASUS WHQL Driver" first and then install "ASUS Enhanced Driver."

Ive installed the Asus Enhanced driver, but all it seems to do is sit ontop of normal drivers allowing the OnScreenDisplay to change settings durring game play.

Now i found on another forum how to enable the Debug log and its output is quite interesting. Everything that could fail pretty much failed. Forgive this next bit of crap in this post

Dont know where im gonna go from here, ive reinstalled all componants from scratch and just cant get the tv prog to run. ive Set Video-In as primary display input in the configurator programe. Also i tried the dx9.0c hotfix, but it wouldnt even attempt installing. database error or something . Also downloaded very latest 9.0c redistributable archive but er ...still nothing :/

I would say make sure you have WME Series 9 in for a start(Windows Media Encoder) as MMC wont run without it but you dont need to have the DVD Decoder to make it work

I have Windows Media Encoder already installed, but redownloaded and installed anyway just to see if it changes anything. Also that DirectX Hotfix seemed only for DirectX9.0b.

I did spot on another forum something about hexediting one of the files of the MCC which makes everything suddently work properly. Unfortunatly that information is for an older version of the mcc. All in the mcc seems to work exept the TV prog which i belive i need to access Personal video recorder to capture from video in and im sure video soap would come in handy from a composite line.

Matt ... I do remember having to uninstall PowerDirector before some other apps would work, it may be the same thing for you ...

However, i tried a fresh install on another partition of winxpsp2, WinMediaEncoder9, cat 3.11 and mcc 9.03 and still the exact same error ;( I might try flashing an ATI bios and seeing if its dependant on that .

Hmmm... it seems as though Instg8r may have the right idea. There are a couple of forums listing the same debug info as you. All pointing to MMC .... here's what I used with the 9800xt, I haven't tried it with the X800 .... again I used analog plug and My DVD, as well as NERO for Video capture from the camcorder Asus Digital VCR. I later went to firewire .... talks about the ASUS Enhanced drivers again.

Well that's good you have it at least working now... but doesn't explain why MMC is not working. With installing it on a second partition and a fresh install without the possiblility of another app causing an issue. Have you tried to install the codecs before installing MMC? I know XP should already have the WMF codecs but I seen this mentioned on ATI website....

I have never used the MMC and am not real familiar with the details, I'm stilling looking at his debug info which to me appears the app is dead from the start ... which would make it DOA ... j/k but seriously the resmngr fails to getobject to create a pointer in the registry ... ResMngr::GetObject CoCreate Error: ClassNotReg CLSID: {CA0974B8-2353-41AC-9562-7FD6BA6B27A3} is the app looking for a specfic hardware type like Matt mentioned ATI BB and not an ASUS?
or is it missing a DAO(Data Access Object) which is why getobject fails?

Well i clean installed again, installed Catalyst 4.11, folowed by winmediaplayer 10 and winmediaencoder9. then I installed the dao database thingy, and then mcc 9.03. still same error, I cant win. I am wondering if its something to do with that multimonitor enabled via registry line in the debug info. I am not running multimonitor, and the multimonitor option is disabled in mcc configuration (although these settings dont seem to save, reset everytime i run the configurator.

Just for kicks i tried mcc 9.02 and that left system in a right mess, killed me display drivers completely putting desktop in 4 bit mode lol. Well, ill try the ati bios when i get home tonight, just to see if it efects anything.

Messing with nero recode, i find it works quite well, massive file size on dvd high quality profile though, but not as blocky as the asus recorder. I havent got an svideo source, but if i did...is it noticably better then the composite source which seems to have a slight colour blur especially on strong reds ?.

Well I can finaly draw a conclusion, and im sure it effects more then just my card.

After Flashing the ATI X800 bios, And reinstalling display drivers as card wasnt auto detected I ran the mcc and behold ...the tv app worked and worked just fine. The mcc toolbar even renamed TV to VideoIn.

Im assuming this will be the same for other non BB Ati cards, even the AllInwWnders to some degree :|
Ordineraly id just keep the ati flash, but then im torn between asus extras working that need the asus bios .. .

Now there must be somthing I can edit to make it see the asus Asic ID apear as a valid radeon card .
