How to tell what size PSU I need.

Not extra, no. Basically think of them as not permanently connected. See MRCL's post above

The it most probably only has the SATA connectors. They are a bit flimsy to plug into, be a bit careful there.

Modular = Only the main power cables are permanently connected to the PSU. Other cables can be connected if necessary. Its superb if you don't have that much power needing hardware, you can only connect those cables to the PSU you actually need, and not having a tree of cables hanging from it unused.

See those black and blue plugs? You can plug in additional cables in there.

As opposed to a non modular PSU. You notice the cable mess.

Ahhh I see. I'll definetly go modular then. The more user friendly the better because I know zilch about any of this stuff. :p

Hey, I too began my computer building career with a new PSU :) I didn't know anything either. Comes time comes wisdom:toast:

Don't worry about the "not knowing zilch" thing. We all had to start somewhere and we are here to help. :)

Also, not only will it help you it will also keep the unneeded "rat's nest" of wires out the PC giving ti a cleaner inside feel.

BTW I found a picture of my current power supply.

Click on the view picture links to see it.

That looks like a standard ATX power supply, so you have a wide variety of choices.

OCZ's ModXStream isn't the highest quality line of PSUs, but given that your computer came with a 300w PSU the 500W model or above would be fine. That being said, however, if you are willing to spend more, Corsair has some of the best modular PSUs available (HX620 and HX520). I ran an overclocked quad-core processor and 3 video cards (2x9600GSO in SLI + 8600GTS for PhysX) on a Corsair CX400w (their cheapest model), so you know Corsair sells good PSUs :toast:

Oh, I also found a 650 watt power supply designed for my exact PC model.

As my 2500th post, let me tell you: Don't.

In the world of computer power supplies this is just about as good as it gets.

Yes, and I am pope.

With a hefty 630 watts of "juice" there's surely no computer too big to overload this baby.

Yes, and I am Jesus.

Inside the power supply is three 80mm cooling fans that operate in a hush-hush manner.

This will produce turbulences. You will hear those turbulences. Corsair features only one 120mm or 140mm fan, which is much more silent, because the bigger fans can move more air while spinning slower.

[...]

The physical external power switch is handy for turning this power supply off when you want to disconnect power from the entire computer.

Lol they say that as if they've invented it.

[...]

Seriously dude, get yourself some quality PSU. Do it for your hardware ;)

Well I just want to make sure I get one that will fit my case.

I don't know how to tell if this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817815001 will fit my case. That's why I thought about getting a higher watt PSU that was made for my particular system.

At newegg, just klick on ATX on the Type Menue.

Any PSU from that category will fit your case.

Slash:

I've got a Corsair HX520 that will fit your needs. I shot you a PM about it.
