How to use a Nvidia card as Physx w/ATi

G80 Parts- better than G92

should be okay, i got gt 240 green edtion save me some power but thats just me ;)

Any idea how loud it is? I assume there's some way to adjust the fan speed on them.

What's the latest news on this? I've just bought a 5850 and I'm playing arkham asylum right now so it'd be nice to use the 8800gs as a physx card. :)

as far as i know, the newest release is for the 20x.x drivers. i'm still on 197.13, but mirror's edge, sacred 2, ut3 and metro 2033 all work great. i'm sure metro 2033 uses a newer physx version than batman:aa, but you can use the newer pack if you wish.
just be sure that your ati drivers are installed before ANY nvidia software(other than the physx software packs that install with games), or CCC will act funny sometimes.

You can use the latest Nvidia drivers.

Random Murderer is correct also.

So, once you are all set, install the latest Nvidia drivers and before you hit "Finish" to reboot, run the 1.04ff mod, then reboot.

With the latest drivers there is no PhysX option in the Nvidia control panel, but you can see if it's on by using GPU-Z. :toast:

Or download Fluidmark 1.2 to take a test drive. It will display in the left corner of the tool if you are using GPU or CPU Physx, you want to use GPU physx.

Just installed this baby into my comp :) ... very sexy indeed. Will be scouting this thread for the next few hours.

With the screen shots on the main post are with a 5850 and a 9600GT and i must say it got killer FPS gains in physx games.

Can't wait :toast:

Now I won't have to worry about Nvidia Xclusive titles. :rockout:

I may snag a 9500GT or something really cheap wiht over 32 shaders to do physx again.

There are tonnes of low profiles for them, but I wasn't sure how they would perform. There are low profile 9600GT as well but again not sure how they perform :S so stuck with the safe side.

anything pretty much with 32 shaders and above is good for physx cause it only uses maybe half of the card to process the detail. i had my eye on a 9600 GSO for like 40$ not to long ago, maybe jump on that

Randomflip, you got ya 9600GT, dats awesome bro, let me know how it runs man, if it runs perfect or close to that, I will go with your setup then:laugh:

Haha will do, just getting a hang of installing drivers at the moment, I'm all mixed up :D. Should be up soon though.

my friend just got a GTX460 for Physx right now... he got 23500 FLUID marks...
thats just... insane. 8800GT X2.5

Got mine all working! :D Thanks everyone!

turns out borderlands works fine with the 197.13 drivers as well.
i'm not saying you should opt for the older hack over the newest, just simply pointing out that they still work fine.

Dunno why, but sometimes, when i 1st start the Mafia II demo and actually get into the 3d world (answering telephone call), the game turns off gpu physx, but it will come on if i run around for a few minutes... odd. Dark void benchmark and fluidmark don't do this.

Also, is my gts 250 supposed to downclock when idling? according to MSI afterburner, it is runnning the same clocks reguardless of stress

Running the settings below, my 9600gt got Phsx/graphx:165 and 27fps
gts 250 scores physx/graphx: 271 and 45fps avg.

I did 4 mafia II runs and it scored between 38 and 43.5fps in 4 with the 9600gt and between 40 and 44.5fps with the gts 250.

Just installed :

ATI 10.7 + 258.96 + 1.0.4ff = total win !

HD5870 1gb @ 955/1300
GTX460 1gb @ 775/1000

Rest is in my SIG.

That's an extraordinary work dude. Thumbs up

just found this thread ... wow not sure how I missed it haha

good stuff!

I may have to put my 460 in for a physx card ... running 5870 as main right now

Some gts250's have idle clocks and some dont. best way to figure that out is to save the bios with gpu-z and open it up in nibitor.

My 9800gt didnt have 2d clocks so I modded the bios so it would.
Right now when there is no physx running the card idles at 135 core, 280 shader , 300 mem at .88v core voltage. When physx kicks in its goes to 750 core, 1750 shader , 950 mem at 1.2v. so when it does run it runs amazing and when it doesnt it takes very little power. Really digging this card.
