HP DV6000 Thoughts!

ok i bought a used hp dv6000 amd laptop only thing wrong with it is is suppose to be dvd-rw drive dont work but i got another dvd-rw drive and replaced it but the thing is it wont recognize any optical drive at all not even usb optical drive and the usbs work perfectly cuz i can boot off my flash drive.....its like it dont no optical drive at all not even usb ones any thoughts? :ohwell:

Can you see the drives in BIOS? If they are not avaliable in Windows but in BÌOS, try this.

Had this laptop, had overheating isues the whole series , I did look into before but my mb died and videocard as well. I did find out same solution for thet problem but forgot the sites.

its dont show any kind of optical or hard drive in the bios specs there just not listed only cpu specs only says anything about optical drive is the boot order and i made cd-rom/dvd-rw the first to boot but nothing its not like i paid alot for it lmao i bought the laptop for 50 bucks lol


but like i said when i use a usb optical drive it shows at the post when u hit tab for hardware info on boot up but doesnt boot in to it i press f9 to select which device to boot up from its not there lol i tried 3 diffirent usb optical drives and nothing and there all good drives and but get i can still boot form usb flash drive lol

oh i know all about hp/compaq dv laptops and there overheating etc etc.... lol i think like 95% of the laptops that i work on at work are hp/compaq lmao

ok, just was my 1 cent, still good price as i sold mine (broken mb+vid) for thet much. :)
Try to take apart and give a good cleaning, most times is work for me. good luck do

LOL ,good. must be samthing wrong with the ide/sata chip then, may u can reflash the bios.
I did once update the bios file with new sil bios did the trick, but thet one a looong storry

wow for thet scorpio!!! :))
