hi all,

i managed to get a -.75 undervolt on my cpu and cache. sadly, attempting any further results in bsods after several hours of use. what are some other settings i should adjust to get good performance without overheating? thanks.

If you have questions about your settings, post screenshots of the FIVR and TPL windows.

thanks for your reply, i managed tp get to -.80 undervolt for cpu and cache, set ICCDMAX to the highest setting for both. i set all cores to 3.5, turned off BD PROCHOT but haven't changed anything else

edit: also repasted with PTM7950 and good thermal putty, so the internal heat situation is as good as it can get

I would check the MMIO Lock box to get rid of the 15W limit.

Should i adjust anything for PL1, PL2 or turbo time? Ideally, id like consistent performance around 3.5ghz.

Can i use the first profile (performance) in throttlestop for everything? Eg, balanced for everday use and high performance power plan for plugged in gaming/editing/etc?

You can adjust whatever you like. There is no way for me or anyone else to know what will work best for you and your laptop.

I have only ever used one profile in ThrottleStop. Reducing the number of useless background tasks running on your computer is more important than tweaking ThrottleStop to the edge of stability. Come up with some ThrottleStop settings that work well and stick with those settings for everything. There is very little to be gained trying to come up with perfect settings.

Thanks again for your reply. After ticking that mimo lock option, i started to pull about 30-35w (hwinfo reports as much as 45w), but its getting to the high 80s/low 90s. I had to adjust the undervolt from -.80 to be -.69 due to bsod while running the 7gb TS bench.

If id like the system to go as low as 15w but as high as 35-40w, what settings should i change? (Guessing pl1 for lower and pl2 for higher). Also, does setting turbo time limit to max help me stay at boosted clocks longer? Thanks again for all your work

You do not get to control the minimum amount of power a CPU will use.

You can try setting PL1 to 35W. This power limit is used during a long term stress test. For shorter tests, the higher PL2 power limit will be used.

PL1=35
PL2=40

Most laptops with G7 processors have poor cooling. I would either reduce the turbo time limit to about 8 seconds or I would set both power limits to 35W to keep the CPU from instantly overheating.

Thanks for all your help

Pl1 is set to 25, pl2 at 35. Final undervolt is -0.70
All core set to 3.4ghz

The laptop "can" hit 40-45w, but only for a moment. I set the mimi lock then stressed it out, finding that 3.4-3.5 was usually the max avg frequency it could put out. Since this appeared to be the limit, i tailored the settings towards that frequency. I also set battery max processor at 75% (i have 17 inch laptop, so ymmv)

Make sure both Clamp boxes are checked in the Power Limit Controls section.
Clamp is designed to limit the CPU to the PL2 power limit that you set.
