HP TX2500Z Tablet - Touchscreen Cracked

A few months ago I cracked my screen on my tablet. I removed it out of the case, opened it, and it had four little cracks at the top, which after a month started to continue down the screen. This is what it currently looks like (see picture).

Do you think that the warranty(I bought it new from HP.com) will cover a replacement? Or is can I replace it myself, and at what cost?

Unless you have a warranty that covers accidental damage, they won't cover it. I have no idea what it would cost to replace on your own.

From the looks of it, since you didn't tell them right away, they'll probably say that you dropped it or punched it. You should have told them right when you noticed the cracks.

yea danish hit the nail on the head, you may say w/e to HP but that type of damage could be caused by a bunch of things, and they're going to say owner abuse pretty much. However had you sent it to them when you first noticed the cracks, depending on where they where and visibility, it could have been a very different story.

Technically, recognizing the small cracks and not doing anything about it would be considered owner's negligence, which would void the warranty on the screen.

The problem is, I'd rather not send my unit in for a maybe. I have EVERYTHING on this computer, it's not only my personal computer, it's my business computer. I'm a graphic designer, and I can't have 2 weeks of down time for possibly getting it fixed. Also I have, uh, programs that lets say weren't quite bought for retail price... In fact they weren't bought at all.

From what I understand it's procedure to wipe a HDD clean when the comp is sent in for repair. That may vary though depending on what's being done to it, but that's what happened to a few of the messed up nVidia chipset lappys that came through our shop. So, make backups if you decide to send it off. It won't hurt to see what they say though. Never know until you ask.
